“I suppose it would be easier if they’re after more than one.”

“Yes, ma’am. With just the one bull, they probably roped him and led him to a truck.”

“Dylan, please.”

“I’m sorry. Dylan.”

“Much better, Agent.”

“Alex, please.” He grinned when she did.

“Okay, Alex.”

When he exited the truck, she did, too, and he looked across the seat at her.

“I’d rather you stay here.”

“Tough. My land, my bull, and I will not sit back and do nothing.” She placed her hands on her hips, and her eyes narrowed.

Alex didn’t reach the age of thirty-eight without knowing not to piss off a woman. He huffed.

“All right, but stay behind me. We don’t know if anyone is here.”

“You said it happened at night.”

“That doesn’t mean they aren’t checking out the place. Please stay behind me, or you will sit in the truck. Are we clear?”

Her lips flattened as she stared at him, but then she nodded. This woman would be a force to be reckoned with. Following orders didn’t seem like a priority for her.

“Good. Come on, then. Please be quiet.” He pulled his gloves on, buttoned his coat, and lowered his hat. The wind was picking up, and it was snowing.

Dylan followed the agent through the woods.Alexander.She’d always liked that name. It always came across as sexy to her, and Agent Alex Reeves fit that to a T.

She ran her eyes over his broad back and down his legs to his cowboy boots. He was tall. She stood five-seven, and he had to be at least ten inches taller. God! She loved a tall man. And his voice was amazing. Deep and sexy.

When she saw him last night, she couldn’t see his appearance because it was dark. But here, in the light of day, she did, and it had been a long time since a man made her want to grab him and have wild, passionate sex with him.

“Wild, passionate sex? What the hell is that?” she muttered.

Alex turned and looked at her.

“What?” he whispered.

“Nothing.” She hoped he didn’t pay too much attention because her cheeks were on fire. She saw him nod, then crept through the woods again.

His dark hair touched the collar of his sheepskin coat and looked silky soft. She clenched her fists to avoid raking her fingers through it.

He was very good-looking, though she preferred blond men. This one was the epitome of tall, dark, and handsome. His nose was straight and sat over sexy, kissable lips. And she’d bet one of her other prize bulls he knew how to use them on a woman.

Dylan halted when he did and watched him squat to shine his flashlight on tire tracks.

“Has someone from the ranch been up here in a truck recently?” he asked as he took photos with his phone.

“ATVs, but no trucks.”

“These are truck tire tracks, not an ATV.” He stood, looked along the fence, then walked beside it.
