“Since Marlowe is in the wedding party, I thought it would be a good idea. It would be too hard to choose from my friends and not offend any of them. Once I explained, they were fine.”

“We’re all happy for you, Alex,” Hank said. “And I’m honored to be in the wedding.”

Alex was about to answer when the door opened, and the priest stuck his head inside.

“Let’s get you married, Alex. Your bride is ready.”

Alex took a deep breath, walked out the door to follow the priest, with Eli and Hank following him.

As he stood at the altar, his nerves subsided, and he couldn’t wait to see her walking toward him.

When the music started, everyone stood, and he couldn’t see anything. He wanted to shout for them to sit down, but then he saw her, and his heart skipped a beat. She looked stunning in her off-white gown that hugged her body like a second skin. She stood in the archway of the vestibule and nodded at Zoey.

He chuckled when he saw Zoey skipping down the aisle tossing flowers from a small basket, high into the air. She was supposed to walk, and gently toss the rose petals, but she had other ideas.

“I think you’re going to have your hands full with both females in that family,” Eli whispered.

“I agree, but I’m looking forward to it,” Alex said.

He grinned when Dylan arrived at the altar and smiled at him. When he winked at her, she winked back, making him chuckle. He took her hand in his, and she walked up the two steps, and they faced the priest together.

“Are you ready for this?” Alex asked her.

“More than you know, cowboy.”

“Who would want to marry a cowboy?” Alex teased.

Dylan laughed. “I have no idea. Who would want to marry a stubborn redhead?”

Alex stared into her eyes. “This cowboy.”

She quickly kissed his lips, making the guests laugh.

“I haven’t said you could do that yet,” the priest said with a grin.

“Please start, Father, so I can marry this woman.”

The priest nodded and performed the ceremony. When he finished, he looked at them.

“Now, you can kiss your bride.”

“The first of many as husband and wife,” Alex murmured before pressing his lips to hers.

Dylan moaned, wrapped her arms around his waist and leaned against him. He pulled her tight against him and deepened the kiss, then raised his head and stared into her eyes.

“I love you, Dylan Marie Reeves. For the rest of my life. I promise.”

“I love you too, Alexander Brooks Reeves.”

“Me too, Mama?” Zoey tugged on Dylan’s wedding gown, making her and Alex look at her. Alex squatted to eye level with her.

“You too, Zoey. I love you.”

“I love you too, Alex… and Peaches,” Zoey said, making everyone laugh.

Alex picked her up, took Dylan’s hand, and faced the guests. Everyone stood and applauded, then laughed when they heard the people outside cheering. The tradition of people waiting outside for the newlyweds continued in Clifton.

When Alex squeezed her hand as they walked down the aisle, she smiled as she squeezed back. She couldn’t wait to start their lives together.

“I don’t know what I did to deserve you both, but I couldn’t be happier,” Alex said.

“Same here. We’ll have a great life together.”

Dylan smiled as they walked toward the doors of the church. She looked at Alex carrying Zoey and knew she’d made the right choice in trusting her heart with him. He was all she needed in her life, along with Zoey.

She shook her head and laughed when she thought about not wanting a cowboy. She couldn’t imagine not having him in her life. Cowboy or not, he was the man for her and always would be. Why wouldn’t any woman want a cowboy?
