“Hush,” she muttered, picking up the thimble and knocking his car right off the Free Parking space. “Sore winner and sore loser… with a capital L.”

“Haters gonna hate…”

“Puh-lease…”

He threw the dice and moved his piece counting obnoxiously with each spot, just to get a rise out of her.

“And a one… two… three… four…”

“Would you just put it on Chance and draw your card?”

“Are you sure it’s Chance?” he mocked innocently.

“If you need to take off your socks to count, then be my guest – but yes. You rolled a seven, so you are on Chance.”

“Testy little thing…” he chuckled and drew a card. “Let’s see, oh my…”

“What’d you get now? Go to jail and never come out?”

“Advance to Go and collect two hundred dollars – and a kiss.”

“The card does not say that,” she chuckled.

“Gimme two seconds,” he jumped up to get a pen, making both of them laugh as he plucked one off the counter, gave her a mischievous look, wiggled his backside as he wrote on the card, looked at her again before proudly walking over and offering her the card.

She rolled her eyes, accepted the card, and began to read.

“Advance to Go and…” Lena paused as he stood there, smiling before he knelt down in front of her.

“I figured I should probably ask you to marry me – officially – instead of assuming. I’m going to insist on a real cheesecake to celebrate and not that hospital mush with cherries,” he smiled at her. “And lots of kisses. You are welcome to start anytime you…”

Lena immediately scrambled up from her seated position, moving to hug him where he was kneeling and kissed him. There was no hesitation in her, no doubts where she was concerned, and she was never giving back this Monopoly card.

As she broke the kiss, holding him close… she could feel his breath against her lips as they remained together.

“Is that officially a ‘yes,’ Lumberjack?” he said huskily.

“Yes.”

“I’m probably never going to be one of those rich guys that drives a fancy car or takes you on extravagant vacations, but I will love you with everything I am and make sure you never wonder ever again.”

“I would rather have your heart than any of those things.”

“Don’t break mine,” he begged softly, not moving as he gently kissed the side of her lip. “If you are ever not happy, knock me upside the head, and when I come to…”

Lena laughed in his face, and he joined her, chuckling as they looked at each other, both on their knees in the tiny living room with the fireplace crackling nearby.

“You know,” she said softly. “This was an awfully romantic proposal. I mean, the timing of it…”

“I created the blizzard just for you…” he interjected, chuckling and giving her a smoky look.

“Then getting me out of my wet things earlier so you could get a peek?”

“I can see through my eyelids. It’s magic.”

“Trouncing me in Monopoly…”

“I am reallythatgood. It’s a gift.”
