Watchingthe older men,Lilywondered howLoufigured out who she worked for.Itwas something she didn’t think to ask when it came up during their private conversation.Shehad been more concerned with being outed in front ofWyatt. Now, it was all she could think of.

DidLousomehow knowChelsea, or theCEOof her firm?Itwas a mid-size company but theGalindoswere powerbrokers who likely owned a substantial real estate portfolio, so, anything was possible.Inall likelihood,Lousimply put two and two together.Anout-of-towner who works in property management shows up out of the blue just as a new project is going up.Allhe had to do was a bit of online research.Sameas anyone could.IncludingWyatt.

“Lily?”

Wyattwas at the patio door, looking at her, breaking her train of thought.Spatulain hand, his hair falling into his eyes, he looked to be in his comfort zone.Andpainfully handsome.

“Coulduse some help out here,” he said.

Giventhe recent fickle weather, they had decided to eat inside. Now,LilyjoinedWyattat the grill.Itwas the first chance they had to be alone together since she’d arrived.

Thegrill was filled with a new batch of hot dogs, and burgers of all shapes and sizes, smoke rising skyward.Apan with roasted corn on the cob and baked potatoes rested nearby.

Lilypointed to the grill. “Thatone looks like a warped snowman.”

“Hmm,”Wyattsaid, squinting, seriously trying to see it. “Peoplesee what they want to be.”

“YouthinkIwant to be a snowman?”

“Maybe.Oryou want to hang out in an igloo withEskimosand reindeer.”

“Okaaay.”Sheglanced at the grill. “HowcanIhelp?” she asked.

Theothers were inside, deep in conversation.

Wyatt'sgaze settled on her face, studying it as if she were a juicy sirloin. “Justkeep me company.”Hisvoice was husky, sensual.

Beforeshe knew what was happening,Wyattset down his spatula, moved closer, her heart fluttering wildly in her chest.

Helifted his hand, caressing her cheek with his thumb.Herface tingled with the heat of his touch.Hiseyes were glued to her lips.

Everythingaround them stilled.Nosizzling grill, no chatter.OnlyWyatt.

Bysome magic,Wyatt’sother hand materialized firmly on her lower back, drawing her near.Hesmelled smoky.Delicious.

Lilylicked her lips, closed her eyes.

“Ahem!”

Ittook a full two seconds forLilyto register the presence of another human.Thenher eyes flew open, her cheeks flaming up.

“Starvingpregnant lady here.”

Pammystood there, grinning like aCheshirecat, hands on her hips, her belly protruding like a bowling ball.

Wyattcleared his throat, “Asalways, your timing is impeccable.”

“You’reslacking off on the job,Wy,”Pammysaid, squeezing herself between them and helping herself to two burgers and an ear of corn.

Herheart still racing,Lilysimply watched the two banter like siblings.

Pammyproceeded to top off her plate with a baked potato, then turned away, studying her meal. “Isit me or does this burger look like a big, fat horse?”

Pammywaddled back inside leavingLilyandWyattlaughing until tears were streaming down their faces.
