Not to mention this morning, too.

After one last trip to Heaven, we’d taken a quick shower before racing our way to breakfast. As predicted, Lulee, Cree, Sarah, and Kevin hadn’t shown up, though Trevor had made an appearance. Looking fully rested and ready to be on his way, he had surprised us all with a request to stay one more night. Apparently, he hadn’t realized just how tired he’d been, and he thought that one more night of rest would be a good idea before finishing the rest of his trip.

Graciously, the Clarks had agreed, and breakfast had actually been nice. Marilyn hadn’t acted weird, and Richard and Donovan had been a little bit chattier this morning than they’d been the evening before. Sometimes, all anyone really needed was a good night’s sleep. I had also given them credit for suggesting a late lunch for the others, seeing as how no one knew what time they’d be up and moving.

However, after Saint and I had taken a walk down the ‘forbidden’ path that led to the cliffs, we’d gotten back to our room to find Lulee and Cree hanging out in the sitting area, and both of them looked like shit. Reading the room, Saint had suggested a cigarette, leaving me and Lulee alone in the cabin, the girl looking like she needed more sleep.

“How bad is it?” I asked as I set a glass of water next to her on the coffee table.

“I don’t think that I’ve ever had a hangover this bad, and that’s saying something,” she groaned.

“How’s Cree feeling?”

“Just as crappy,” she answered as she reached for the water.

“Well, the Clarks are pushing lunch back a couple of hours,” I informed her. “They wanted to give you guys time to work through your hangovers.”

“I don’t even want to think about food right now,” she kept groaning. “God, last night was…” She let out a heavy sigh, and not the happy kind.

“What happened last night?”

Her bloodshot eyes closed as she leaned her head back against the couch. “I think I fucked up,” she said, and I immediately winced.

“Why? What happened?”

She opened her eyes again, and she looked so miserable that I hurt for her. “It was stupid,” she mumbled.

“What was?” I cocked my head a bit. “What happened, Lulee?”

“I got jealous,” she announced, and that was surprising because Lulee had no reason to be jealous of anyone. Even if Cree didn’t worship the ground that she walked on, Lulee was stunning.

“You guys swapped-”

“No,” she rushed out, and I pressed my hand to my chest in relief. “No, nothing like that.”

“So, then what?”

“At some point, after we’d already consumed our weight in alcohol, the clothes all came off, and before I knew it, we were all fucking in front of each other, the whole scene straight out of a porn flick,” she confessed. “At first…at first, it felt…exciting. It felt taboo enough to thrill me.” I’d known Lulee long enough to know that she was turned on by that kind of thing. “I finally had a chance to try something like that, and I’d been excited.”

“What changed?” I asked softly.

“I…” She let out a deep breath. “I caught Cree looking at Sarah while…while Kevin was in her ass, and I got jealous.”

“Wait,” I said, not believing for a second that Cree would ever look at another woman. “Did he look her way, or was he watching her get fucked? Because those are two different things, Lulee.”

“No, he…he just…” She shook her head, and it must have cost her because she visibly winced. “There was no way to avoid eyes locking because we were all right next to each other, but at the time…I saw it and got jealous.”

“What’d you do?”

“I started demanding that Cree do things that he’d never done with me before,” she confessed. “You know, just to prove that I was a better screw than Sarah was.”

“Well, not for nothing, but…I mean, is there anything that you and Creehaven’tdone over these past couple of years?” I asked. Cree and Lulee couldn’t ever seem to get enough of each other, so I was genuinely curious.

“Well, not really,” she admitted. “But I was just…I treated him like we were at a porn shoot, and I know he feels used, Verity.”

“I’m sorry,” I whispered softly because I didn’t know what else to say.

Her face softened a bit before she changed the subject. “So, what happened with you and Saint after you dipped out?”
