Then she nodded and shrugged as though accepting what I’d said. Which was a good thing, because I had no idea—no concrete answer as to why I hadn’t guided her up to my four-poster bed, thrown her lush body down on it, then swiftly tied her up while I had my fun.

My cock jumped at the thought, but for some reason my heart wasn’t fully committed to doing just that.

“Are you ready to continue our adventure?” I asked with a smirk on my lips, holding my hand out to her after I stood.

She presented me with a beautiful smile before slipping her hand inside of mine.

“Turn left here,”she instructed Langcaster as she eagerly gazed out the window. We were in an area with tiny shops on either side of the streets. I couldn’t imagine which one of them she wanted to go into.

There was certainly nothing grand about any of the signs or store windows that we drove passed. The people on the streets dressed freely in an array of clothing—a mish mash of styles, new and old.

Yes, there were some regularly clothed individuals.

But not many.

“Are you surethisis where you want to go?” I asked skeptically, gazing hesitantly out my own window.

She let out a low giggle and said, “Right here is fine, thank you, Langcaster.”

The car stopped and I lifted my eyebrow at her.

“Don’t be scared. I’ll protect you.” She laughed. Langcaster opened her door and we slipped out. Music immediately assaulted my ears. I looked around and located its origin to the street corner. A tall man dressed in a colorful, striped suit bounced up and down while he strummed an old guitar.

It looked like it had seen better days—the man and the guitar.

But the tune he played and sang made Cherry laugh and wave.

Once the chorus came up, I let out a chuckle as well. He was singing, “Like a Virgin” with as much gusto as I think I’d ever heard that song sung before.

“Interesting choice of lyrics,” I muttered, grabbing onto her hand and leading her further up the sidewalk.

“That’s Chuck. It’s the only song he knows.” She laughed again, her whole body shaking this time. She tossed her long hair over her shoulder and pulled me along behind.

The stores seemed surprisingly busy.

To say my interest was piqued as to which store she would lead me into was an understatement. As I peered around at the signs, nothing here remotely caught my eye.

And then I saw it.

A quirky, used bookstore just up ahead.

For some reason I knew that was exactly where Cherry was taking me.

A bookstore I could do.

Once we got closer to it, sure enough, she placed her hand on the door. When we stepped inside, I’d expected to be inundated with the musty smell of old books.

Instead, the aroma of freshly ground coffee beans greeted my senses. There was also another deeply fragrant smell. Lavender perhaps?

Whatever it was, the combination worked well together.

She inhaled a huge breath and said, “Ahh, hello my friends.” Her eyes closed briefly as though she were meditating. And just as quickly as she’d shut them, she opened them wide. “Follow me,” she said, her voice holding a hint of excitement.

Apparently, Cherry really loved books.

I followed behind, looking at the few patrons around us. Some were privately engaged in removing book after book from the many, many shelves.

Others sat in groups of two or more, chatting as they drank from large mugs.
