“No,” I stated very firmly with no other comment.

“No? No? Are you crazy?” she asked sarcastically, trying to move away from me.

“No. If I see that you need something, I’m going to get it for you. In case you haven’t noticed, Eve,” I said, taking her hands in mine and rolling her until my body was on top of hers, “I’m not the kind of guy who asks for permission.”

Then I let my lips touch the side of her neck, and I inhaled her vanilla scent. I kissed the sensitive skin there and watched her shiver. “You need to leave,” she said again, but much less convincing this time.

“I like it here,” I said into her neck, kissing my way down her chest to her nipple. It was already hard and poking up under her thin shirt.

“You should go,” she said with a small gasp right before I placed my lips around her tight bud.

“No, thanks. I’m going to stay.” I let my tongue flick at her for a moment before I lifted her shirt and bared her breasts. My hand rested on her breast, feeling her incredible softness.

Eve’s eyes closed and her legs opened wider beneath me.

My body relaxed into hers and I slid inside slowly, taking my time. I’d missed her and I wanted to show her how much.

It wasn’t long before we both came—which relieved me in more than one way.

After she turned her new bedside lamp off, she laid on my chest and said, “Thanks, Nick. For everything.”

A few minutes later, she was out cold.

And so was I.

“…and he had a bunch of groceries delivered, too,” Giselle said, pointing her spoon at me while she ate her second bowl of cereal.

“Yeah, I know. He spent way too much on us,” I said, feeling more than guilty for everything Nick had bought for us.

The new bedroom sets were far too extravagant. But I have to say our rooms really looked nice now.

Of course, the furniture was way nicer than our actual rooms.

The quality of that merchandise didn’t belong in this neighborhood.

Not even close.

Nick had made it abundantly clear he wasn’t about to return any of it, though. And it wasn’t as if I had the means to take it back.

The groceries were appreciated.

After our morning tryst yesterday—and my nap—it didn’t leave much time—or desire for grocery shopping.

“He didn’t seem to mind doing any of it. For you,” Giselle said, smiling across the table at me.

I shrugged and drank my coffee. “It’s too much,” I said, feeling the weight of everything I couldn’t give to my family.

“Your bed was horrible. So were the others.”

I set my cup down. “Well, they’ve been good enough for a long time. And they would’ve held up longer,” I said, sounding as grouchy as I felt. The beds were awful, but it wasn’t like we were sleeping in a cardboard box or something.

“Not after the beating yours took yesterday.” She giggled, picking up the bowl and drinking the leftover milk.

I sighed, my mind floating around with a hundred things I had to do.
