“Are you at a good stopping point? You’ve already worked eight hours. You should’ve stopped working twenty minutes ago.”

“I took a few guitar breaks,” she says sheepishly.

“As is your right.”

Raine shrugs. She takes a bite of her bread and scans the corkboard. “Maybe I ought to pin everything I have arranged and save the rest for tomorrow. That shouldn’t take long. What do you think? I can print the fliers in the morning.”

“Sounds like a good plan to me.”

She glances over at me. “Thank you. For the food and the gentle nudge. I probably would’ve been here until the pub closed if you hadn’t.”

I push the plate in her direction. “Bugging people is one of my favorite activities, ciaróg.”

“Seeing asyou’rethe one bugging me, you’re the... ciaróg,” she says, pronouncingciaróglikeKeurig.

“Close, but not quite. It’s cure-oh-g, not Keurig.”

“MaybeI wasn’t calling you a beetle. Maybe I was calling you a mediocre coffee maker.”

“Whatever you say, ciaróg.” I sigh and get to my feet. “I’ll be back in fifteen minutes, and if you aren’t done here, you’re only getting Keurig coffee from now on.”

She groans. “Fine! Fine. I’ll be done in fifteen minutes.”

I give her my sternest look, but it only makes her laugh.

Fifteen minutes later, I return to the office and find all the photos pinned into place on the corkboard and Raine still squinting at the computer.

I clear my throat, and she looks up at me guiltily.

“What are you doing?” I ask.

“Nothing.”

I give her a skeptical look.

“I just wanted to make a few more tweaks to the flier. It’ll only be five more minutes tops!”

I shake my head and step around the desk. Raine squeals when I spin the office chair away from the computer to face me.

“Are you kicking me out?” she says.

“I am. You’re off the clock.”

“But I’m almost done!”

“You’ll finish tomorrow.”

Raine grins. “That’s what she said.”

“Now you’re really in trouble. No more work for you today.”

Raine groans and covers her face in her hands. “You’re the worst boss ever.”

“I’m not your boss, I’m your—”

“Most professional coworker.Yeah, I know.” She drops her hands and squints up at me. “If you’re just my coworker, then why are you bossing me around?”

“I’m not bossing you around!”
