“Yes, let me hand this bag to Pat in the car.” He walked outside the laundry room door where Sylvia and Pat were waiting in their vehicle. “Can I hand this to you two?”

“Yes, is June ready?” Pat questioned.

“Just about, want to meet out front and I can lock this door?”

“Sounds good.” He began rolling backwards.

Juniper

Sitting on the back of his bike sounded good for three hours but in reality, this early in the day she wished she could be seated in a car, her lower back was aching. A perk was that she could rub her hands on his thighs, back and everything in between. He moved her hand back to his stomach and knocked his helmet against hers, informing her to stop. The roads wereclear this earlyon a Sunday, it was a beautiful day to ride down Old Highway ninety nine and they were right on time.

He rode the motorcycle straight up to the jet with Pat and Sylvia behind them. He turned the bike off and wedged himself free from the handle bars and Juniper and then helped her off. They removed their helmets one after another and walked to the idling vehicle.

“Well,” He said to Pat through the window. “I guess this is it. Are you getting out to say goodbye or are you glad to get rid of us?”

Sylvia was already crying in the passenger seat and Pat muttered, “Yeah, we’ll get out.” Zeppelin darted out his door before he closed it, weaving between June and Wolfie excited to see them.

“Thank you.” Wolfgang hugged his Uncle.

“It was a nice surprise you threw at us this summer. Tell your mom I say hi.” Pat’s hand thudded against Wolfie’s back.

“I will.”

Sylvia closed her car door and hugged June, “Thank you for bringing him to us.”

“I mean, I didn’t plan on this but, it seemed like it worked out. Thank you for a place to stay.”

Pat stepped up to June, “Okay kiddo, you take care of him and stay out of trouble.” He hugged her tightly.

“I will.” June’s eyes watered. “Thank you.”

Pat kissed her hair, “You’re a great kid.”

Wolfgang grabbed their items out of the back and handed them off to Jay who had come down the cargo ramp.

“See you guys around.” Pat yelled, as if they planned to come back or they had planned to visit. It eased the pain of the goodbye.

“Goodbye,” June turned away from them as Wolfgang guided her to the plane. Her emotions took over and she began sobbing. Growing fond of them, she was sad to be leaving his aunt and uncle. Zeppelin trotted up the steps.

He sat June in the front row and kissed her, “I’m going to help load up, you watch Zeppelin.”

“Okay.” Zeppelin nuzzled into her, licking her face. She steadied her breathing and heard other passengers board and settle behind them until Wolfgang joined her again.

“Are you okay?” He sat squeezing her hand.

“Yes. I’m happy to be leaving but sad to be leaving your aunt and uncle.”

“I know.” He put his arm around her. She listened to Jay once again reporting their last chance.

July Twenty Third

Juniper

June grinned with excitement to see the island out the window. “I can’t believe we’re back.” She looked at Wolfie, “Now I can ask, what did you think about leaving the island?”

He raised his brows and exhaled, puffing his cheeks out, “I can see why you came here.” He smiled back at her. “And I’m glad you did, that was an adventure.”
