A door closed down the hallway and Whitney appeared, “Oh hey, how was your sleep over? Did you do any sleeping?” She walked around June and stood next to Brittanya who was still seated.

“What?” June was caught off guard. “We didn’t do anything.” She stood straight faced, grabbing the handles of her tote, preparing to retreat.

“Hm,” Whitney stared at June, inspecting her face, her hair and her clothes. “I believe you.”

“I did run into Shianne while I was there, that was weird. But Marilyn and Amy are nice.”

“They sure are.” Whitney adjusted her stance for a third time, swaying back and forth until a shine caught June’s eyes. She looked in the directions to find a ring on Whitney’s finger.

“Holy shit, what is that?” June let go of the handle to her bag, almost pulling it with her as she went around the sectional.

She laughed as June grabbed her hand, “I’m engaged, Fade asked me last night. It’s his mothers ring.”

“Oh Whitney, it’s gorgeous.” She twisted Whitney’s finger back and forth letting light hit every angle. “How did he propose?”

“Whitney pulled her hand back to look at the ring herself. “ We went to dinner and then randomly he wanted to go walk on the beach. So we drove out there and he was so weird the whole time, I didn‘t know what to think. We got out there and two minutes into our walk he drops to a knee and proposes.”

“And then?” June raised an eyebrow teasing Whitney.

She looked surprised at June’s inquiry. “And then we went back to his house, told ghost stories and braided each other's hair, what do you think we did?” Brittanya laughed at Whitney’s response.

“I just have to give you a hard time.” June hugged Whitney. “Congratulations.”

Chapter Fifteen

March eighth

Wolfgang ‘Hey, how is work?’

Juniper ‘My days are longer, we’re getting a lot more alterations and I think I’m starting to miss you.’

Wolfgang ‘Can I see you this weekend?’

Wolfgang ‘I miss you.’

Juniper ‘Yes.’

Wolfgang ‘I could take you to another cool spot. There’s some caves by the beach.’

Juniper ‘That sounds nice.’

Wolfgang ‘Great, I’ll pick you up Saturday.’

“Where are you off to?” Brittanya asked June as she passed through the living room in a tee shirt and jean shorts.

“Wolfie is taking me on a date, to some caves or something.” She set down her bag on the couch and tightened her ponytail.

“Oh, that sounds fun, where’s Whitney? I feel like I haven’t seen her in days.”

“Fade’s, you missed her yesterday when she stopped by for clothes. I would say they should just move in together already but I would miss her.” Brittanya trailed into the kitchen to place her cup in the sink and switch her laundry.

June applied her lip balm aggressively as the door knocked next to her and opened it. “Hey.” She smiled up to him as he leaned down to kiss her. After separating lips she stepped back and grabbed her bag draped on the couch.

“Hey.” He waved back to Brittanya as she emerged from the kitchen.
