It took a while for both of us to calm down and when our breathing eventually evened out, he eased his softening cock out of me. Feeling both wrecked and seated at the same time, I couldn’t help but let out a breathless little laugh, shaking my head.

Who would have thought that Jack knew how to move his hips that well?

While someone might think he had a stiff personality, he really wasn’t that stiff in other areas.

I let out another breathless little giggle at the thought.

“What?” Jack turned his head toward me, and I had never seen him looking as peaceful and soft as he looked at that moment.

“Nothing…” I tried to shake off the giddiness that had suddenly enveloped me.

It had to be the dopamine — and the other happy chemicals from the orgasm released in my brain — that made me feel this way.

“I think that you should buy me the morning-after pill, just in case,” I told him after my brain rebooted once more.

Condoms were never one hundred percent safe, and I’d been off birth control for some time now. Call me paranoid, but it was always better to be safe than sorry.

I still had the phone that King gave me to buy the things I needed, so I could technically do it myself, but I’d rather not let him see everything that I purchased.

Next to me, I could practically sense Jack’s mood shifting with each passing moment of silence.

“Jack?” I asked, the soft fabric of the pillow brushing against my cheek as I turned my head to look at him.

“We shouldn’t have done this,” he said, a deep wrinkle making itself known at his brow. A drop of sweat was making its way down the side of his face, and I absolutely shouldn’t have found it as attractive as I did.

I had to remind myself to stay focused because he was still in the middle of talking.

“No.Ishouldn’t have done this,” he said, andwow…

Now that’s one way to give a girl self-confidence issues.

“It’s a little late to say sorry after the deed is done, don’t you think?” I tried to joke, but I could see that he was dead serious. I angled my body towards him so he could see that he had my whole attention. “Why? What’s wrong?”

Jack ran a hand down his face. “You… You’re stuck here and you can’t really consent to—“

“Hey, no. I’m going to stop you right there.” I held up my hand when I figured out what he was getting at. “Trust me, I was consenting. You could feel just how consenting I was,” I told him, but he still didn’t look too sure.

“Tell me, if I told you to stop at any time in the middle of it, would you have?”

“Of course,” he said without any hesitation, and the delicate spark of fondness I held for him grew double the size.

He was such a dumbass sometimes — a sweet and considerate one, to be sure — but still a dumbass, nonetheless.

“Then there you go,” I said as I laid back on the bed. “Now stop worrying, learn how to take a thank you and move on.” I gestured with my hand toward the white ceiling. “So thank you and goodbye.”

But then a frown formed on my face and I couldn’t help but squirm a little in place, wrinkling the rumpled sheets underneath us even more. “Well, the goodbye is mostlymetaphorical because I don’t think I can actually move right now.”

Jack let out a chuckle, and he settled down too, yawning. “You can stay the night if you want.”

“I’ll take you up on that,” I quietly murmured, my eyes closing as I gladly succumbed to the sweet allure of sleep.

The morning after felt like every other morning after.

Awkward and stilled.

The daylight flooding the room filled me with a sort of self-awareness that I didn’t have last night. Now, in the light of day, it would be impossible not to acknowledge that sleeping with one of my captors maybe wasn’t one of my brightest ideas.

However, while my mind was preoccupied with that little detail, my body felt more than happy.
