The sensitive boy who wore his heart on the sleeve.

Who felt too much and loved even deeper.

Circumstances of life had beat that out of them for the most part, but it seemed that Ludovica had somehow managed to rekindle those dormant feelings once again.

But now, she was leaving.

That meant that it was time to go back to how things used to be.

Marcello would put an armor around his heart.

Alessio would hide his.

And I…

I would turn my heart back to stone, making sure to make it colder and more impenetrable this time around.

Sometimes, I managed to impress even myself. I had devised the most foolproof strategy of escape in existence, meticulously working out every single aspect of the plan, down to the little details. All I was waiting for now was the right time to set things in motion.

Which should be… any day now, really.

I just wanted to carefully verify every detail in order for it to be a flawless execution. I had only one shot, after all. Everything had to go exactly as planned. My behavior might seem to some like I was stalling, but really, I was just being meticulous.

Yeah… that was what I was doing.

I held back a heavy sigh.

I just hated that I had to leave under these circumstances — sneaking out like a thief into the night while they were asleep.

God fucking dammit!

Why did they have to be so… nice… and sweet… and lovely…

Why couldn’t they just be some evil cunts — then I wouldn’t have had any qualms about slitting their throats in their sleep and leaving.

But no. They had to be likethis.

All friendly, and attractive and so fucking nice.

Of course, they were also very bullheaded, too. They wanted to keep me under their thumb, isolated and imprisoned in their house, not giving a damn about what I wanted…

On second thought, maybe they actually deserved what was coming for them.

I was definitely going to leave them.

Any day now…

That day was not today, however.

All three of them were home at the moment, most likely peacefully sleeping, while I was lying awake, tossing and turning in my bed. They really didn’t deserve to have me agonizing this much about them.

It wasn’t liketheywere losing any sleep over it…

From downstairs, I heard a faint thud echoing through the quiet house. I didn’t pay it any mind at first, assuming that one of the guys had gone to the kitchen to grab something to eat.
