Club K was one ofthebest kink clubs in St. Loren. Everyone who was anyone in the BDSM community came here.

I dropped my gaze to his left hand, where two of his digits—the middle and ring finger—were half missing. Deep scarred pink riverbeds spread up his arm and across his shoulder like a trail of torture. He also had a prosthetic leg, and while people had asked him what had happened before, he never gave a straight answer. It was a new story every time he was questioned.

Shark attack.

He’d been in the CIA and was tortured.

He was with a Dom into kinky knife play—with really bad aim.

No one ever knew what was real. I liked Avery, though. He had spunk and would’ve made the perfect sub—if he was interested in me. Which he wasn’t. He only had eyes for Massimo, who wasonlyinto women.

However, that was life. Nothing ever worked out.

Massimo grunted and let his stare wander down Avery’s chest, which was bare and sprinkled with glitter. He was all soft skin and flat belly—where he wasn’t scarred—with a sinewy build. Gender aside, he wasn’t Massimo’s type as far as I knew.

“No. I’m set,” Massimo said.

Avery shrugged and left us alone to carefully walk to the other end of the bar, toward someone trying to flag him down. There were two other bartenders tonight, but Avery personally took care of us. He always did when Massimo was with me.

It would be simple to make Avery fall to his knees, yet... Wade was so much easier. He did it atworkwith ease, like he was born to follow orders. The Dom part of me fucking loved it—had been getting far too much pleasure from it.

“You got a hard-on for your boss?” Massimo finally asked, though his narrowed eyes stayed on Avery, watching as if he were a predator and Avery was his tasty prey.

“No. He’s a good guy who pays well and offers a great work environment.” I shrugged and took a sip of my whiskey. I’d been in shitty jobs, and I wasn’t going to give this good one up without a fight. It was hard to find a boss who wasn’t a prick in St. Loren when it came to engineering and architecture, especially a full-service place like Émeraude Technologies that did a hell of a lot more than churn out blueprints. Most came from old rich families to begin with, and while Wick Guidry did, too, he wasn’t a complete asshole, unlike the others I’d worked for.

Massimo grunted and took a sip of his beer. “So, make this traitor’s life hell.”

“I am. I have him fucking cleaning the bathroom floor with a toothbrush, and he glares at me, but it seems like he’s ready to saythank you, Sir. He already called me Sir yesterday.” And it had done some pretty fucked-up things to me. If I’d grown hard enough to hammer nails, I wouldn’t admit it to a soul.

Massimo’s gaze slid to me and his mouth curled to the side. “Sounds like he belongs in this club.”

I groaned and massaged my temples with two fingers. “That’s the fucking problem, isn’t it? He’s a sub in every way, and I don’t think he knows it. He craves direction and being ordered around.”

“Then give it to him.” Massimo’s smirk widened before he took a long gulp of his beer, Adam’s apple bobbing around the liquid. A few people near us stopped to stare at him, and I didn’t blame them. Not really. Massimo was classically handsome, all Italian beauty with a sharp jaw and mesmerizing eyes. Not like me. I was... ordinary. I had dark hair, too, but my face wasn’t gasp-worthy. The fact that he caught everyone’s attention was one I’d learned as an early teen when I’d first become friends with him in junior high. Since then, I’d gotten used to being underwhelming compared to Massimo.

I supposed if Wade saw Massimo, he’d probably fall all over himself on his way to begging Massimo to dominate him, and the very thought made my stomach twist.No.Wade was mine to control and order around. Straight or not, I wasn’t going to let Massimo anywhere near Wade.

I shook my head and cupped my hands around the glass, staring down at the amber liquid inside. “He’s a traitor who went along with Xadrian’s schemes. He deserves everything he gets and worse.”

“Even if he enjoys it?” Massimo drawled. “Sounds like being rewarded, not punished.”

I couldn’t deny his words because I was enjoying it as much as Wade seemed to be.Fuck.I groaned and rubbed my face.

And Massimo, the bastard, grinned knowingly into his beer.

I remembered WadebeforeXadrian’s mutiny attempt. I’d talked to him a couple of times; although, I suspected he’d always been afraid of me. There’d been one memorable lunch hour. I sighed.

I rolled my shoulders, cursing my recent ex, Will, who had lobbed a doozy of a parting shot at me before he’d flashed his middle finger and sailed out of my life for good. “You’re a cold son of a bitch, Albion,” he’d said, and he hadn’t been entirely wrong. “You wouldn’t give a shit about your own mother.”

Now, two days later, I was still annoyed.

Will had known what he’d been getting into when he’d agreed to our situationship. It definitely hadn’t been a relationship. Lunchtime came, and when I checked my phone, I saw a message from Will telling me he’d gone back to the apartment and gotten the last of his stuff and left the key. Good fucking riddance. But now I was irritated.

Stomping into the break room, I cursed Will and shoved my phone into the pocket of my suit pants. Inside was empty except for one person—Wade—who leaned against the table with his hip. He had his cell pressed against his ear, talking in a low, angry tone.

While I usually didn’t care about other people’s problems, I needed the distraction.
