Finally Meg exhaled.

She set aside her plate and lifted her feet from my lap, her painted toes flashing in the light. Crawling onto her knees in front of me, taking my hand, she said calmly, "Ask me properly."

Joy exploded in my chest and my eyes grew misty. I slid off the couch, kneeling before her, staring up at her with such awe and reverence, with so much love flooding through me, I nearly broke down.

Her eyes grew misty too, and she released a tiny little sniffle.

“Jesus, Meg Daniels, marry me. Please. You are my light. My life. My partner. My friend. My everything. Will you do me the highest honor of becoming my wife?"

Another tiny sniffle escaped and a lone tear slipped down Meg’s cheek. Her gaze blazed with so much love and emotion, I knew I’d never recover from being the object of it.

“Ryker West, you exasperating man... of course I'll marry you!”

I surged up to crush her lips with mine and she threw her arms around my neck, her tearful laugh filling the room like the sweetest of music. Waves of relief soon gave way to blazing happiness.

She said yes! I got to keep her.

Damn. Could you get any luckier, West?

I could hardly believe this woman was mine.

Again.

Then, now, and forever.
