Running the conversation we had over breakfast in my head, I realized she carefully avoided actually saying those words.

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

Storee had every intention of turning her red light on, and there was nothing I could do to stop her.

I rolled my neck and walked toward the exit to get ready for the night.

I had to prepare for a hunt.

Chapter 18

Locke

I often wondered if she knew she was being watched. If she could sense it in her soul. I often caught her pausing on her front porch, glancing toward the forest, darting her eyes side to side.

She never spotted the camera hidden on her porch, although I often felt she looked directly at it. Directly at me. Our eyes locking through the lens.

I often wondered if she knew I watched her, and she simply let me.

As if she knew I only watched to make sure she was safe. To protect her. To keep danger away.

But tonight was different. Tonight she’d be my prey.

Again.

I watched her turn on the red light over her porch. The signal.

The beacon.

The one and only consent.

She was ready for the hunt.

There was a fire in her eyes, a passion that burned brighter than anything I had ever seen before. But tonight, that fire would be mine.

She was wearing a white nightgown with bare feet as were the rules of the night. Her hair was styled in loose waves thatcascaded down her back. She looked stunning, and I couldn’t wait to have her all to myself.

My heart raced as I slipped on my bone mask.

This was my favorite part—the thrill of the hunt. The thought of capturing her, making her mine, made my dick hard.

I crept through the darkness, careful not to make a sound. She was waiting for me beneath the glow of the red light, but she didn’t know where I was coming from. I was like a shadow, moving through the trees with ease.

It would just be a matter of time until she bolted from her porch and ran toward the forest with me chasing her from behind.

Pursing my lips together, I released the whistle that signaled the hunt had begun. An eerie sound. A haunting one. A sound that spoke volumes.

Run.

She didn’t disappoint. As soon as the whistle echoed through the forest, she took off in a sprint, her white gown billowing behind her like a ghostly apparition. Her bare feet pounded on the forest floor, the sound crunching through the dead leaves of the trees, urging me on. Her breaths came in short gasps as she ran, her fear pushing her to go faster.

I followed her, my senses heightened as I navigated through the trees. Every step I took was calculated, every movement deliberate. She was quick, but I was quicker. I could almost taste her fear. It was like a drug that fueled me, making me stronger and faster.

We ran for what seemed like hours, our breaths ragged and our bodies slick with sweat. I could feel her getting closer, her scent filling my nostrils. It was a heady mix of desire and fear, a smell that made my mouth water.

Storee was like a deer, a beautiful, fragile creature that had no idea what was coming for her. But unlike a deer, she wantedthis. She craved it. Otherwise she wouldn’t have put the red light on. The primal urge was deep inside her. She needed this.

And so did I.
