“Word out of Bottom’s Up is the Phantom Furies have been pushing pills out of there,” Darren spoke up.

“Oh yeah?” Race prodded.

“The owner has been through this kind of shit before in the past and says he’s too old to put up a fight again. He’s thinking of selling it.”

“Where did you hear that?” Chris asked.

One side of Darren’s mouth kicked up. “I listen. If you stay quiet and fade into the background, people forget you’re there and say things they might not normally share.”

Race rubbed a hand over his mouth to keep from laughing at the way the younger brothers were giving Darren the side eye. Now they would all be wondering if they’d said something they hadn’t intended to in front of Darren. They shouldn’t worry. Whatever the man heard, he would keep to himself.

“Maybe we should buy it.” Jed watched everyone to see what they thought of the idea.

“I like that idea. We could buy it, slap our club colors on the wall outside and bar any other clubs from entering at the risk of an ass kicking at the very least.” Race’s smile widened at the thought of pissing off the Phantom Furies by cutting off their easy supply of pussy. “Jackson, see if you can get a look at the books. Find out how much he wants for it, then we’ll bring it to the table and put it to a vote.”

Hell, everyone at the table would vote in favor of the purchase just to keep the Phantom Furies from getting in.

“I’ll get on that tomorrow.”

“Sounds good. Since we know we’re being watched, I want everyone to keep your eye out for any of those sons of bitches sneaking around our town. They may not be wearing their colors if they’re able to go undetected for so long. If you see any, I don’t care what the fuck you do with them, but I want one of them alive to question. I want to know where they’re hiding and what they have planned next. There has to be several men somewhere close by. Their home base is too far away to be coming and going as frequently as they’ve been doing.” Everyone agreed to keep a sharper look out.

“Is Chance having any more problems with them?” Tuck asked.

“One of their trucks was heading home with a full shipment of our products and was ambushed. They worked the two men in the truck over pretty bad,” Race informed them.

“Well, fuck,” Tulsa voiced what they were all feeling.

“Yeah. This shit is getting old,” Dagger grumbled.

“How’s Liza and Bellamy doing?” Maverick asked.

“Eve says Liza’s doing good. From what my daughter told me, Bellamy shielded her from most of it,” Race replied.

“Glad to hear it.”

“Gotta say after all that went down, I’m seriously thinking about teaching Liza how to use a gun and have Bellamy teach her some self-defense moves. I think Preacher had it right when he had Bellamy trained. I don’t ever want my girl to feel helpless again. For now, I’ll have Shannon train with Bellamy, too, and then when she’s a little older I’ll teach her how to shoot.” He’d been working with Derrick since he turned fourteen. They’d set up a bunch of cans out at the back of the clubhouse property and practice from time to time. Maybe he could see if one of Preacher’s men could come down and show them all some self-defense moves.

“You know, that sounds like a good idea. I’d like Lindsey to get in on that if you don’t care.” Trick sat forward, leaning his arms on the table.

“It wouldn’t hurt if all the old ladies were given some training, too,” Maverick suggested. Several men were in agreement. They’d like their old ladies and children trained in the basics.

The thought of his club family being able to take care of themselves was a damn good idea. “I’ll see what I can set up.”

He gave the brothers a few minutes to talk amongst themselves, trying to figure out which old ladies would be more inclined to train than others and how they would convince the ones on the fence that it was a good idea.

“Hey, did anyone else notice Charlotte at the cabin?” he asked.

Everyone who had been downstairs had said they’d seen her when they first got there, but lost sight of her after the shots started flying.

“No one upstairs or outside saw her?” Race asked. He got several nos and some head shakes. “Anyone see her at Bottom’s Up since then?” Again, all replies in the negative.

“She either left Redemption in her rearview mirror or she went up in that fire Preacher and Levi set,” Dagger wagered.

Race didn’t care either way. It saved him from having to deal with her. Although Bellamy said at the end she’d helped by neutralizing one of Jacob’s men, he couldn’t get over the fact that Bellamy and Liza wouldn’t have been in that mess to begin with if Charlotte hadn’t been a possessive, over reaching, crazy cunt. So, if she was still alive, as long as she never came back, he’d give her a pass.

On that note, he closed out church and stood to leave. His kids were with their mother this week and he planned on going home to Bellamy and spending a quiet evening at home.
