‘I’m just giving her options,’ Louisa says, turning to me. ‘I know the owner. I can get you a free month’s pass.’

‘Thank you. It’ll be fun to check it out.’

‘We can go together.’

She looks excited. I laugh along with her.

‘Where are you coming from?’ Louisa points to my suitcase.

‘Zambia. Sorry. I’m just here to grab my keys and I’m going to head home.’

I catch Louisa’s smirk before she brings her face back under control.

‘You should stay,’ Em calls from the stove.

‘What were you doing in Zambia?’ Louisa pulls out a stool and sits, facing me.

‘Work. I’m trying to deliver a client event out there.’

‘Where in Zambia?’

‘Livingstone, Victoria Falls.’

‘Wow. You should give me your details. My family could use your help.’

‘Unfortunately, we don’t do private events…but I can share my resources with you?’

‘Oh no, it’s a company. My family own the House of Gabrielli.’

‘That’s cool. Is it a venue?’

The laughter from Em is so piercing, it gives me a shock. I turn to see her holding both her hands over her mouth; she has abandoned the carrots she had been chopping. I return my gaze to Louisa. She has a dark, disapproving look. It’s obvious I should have heard of the House of Gabrielli.

‘It’s a fashion house,’ Louisa says coldly.

‘That’s amazing,’ I gush. ‘That explains a lot. You look like a supermodel.’

That seems to cheer her up and her warmth returns.

‘Do you work with your family?’

‘Yes. I’m the creative director of the new urban line.’

‘That’s impressive.’

‘You don’t have to be nice to her, Ariella,’ Em says with a smirk as she puts some potato faces in the oven. Just then, we hear a commotion outside. The TRex has taken a nasty fall and all the children are now jumping on it. Em rolls her eyes and yells.

‘Tim! Garden!’

Tim appears in the kitchen in a flash.

‘What’s up?’ he asks as Em wipes her hands on her apron and points to the garden. They look at each other and chuckle. ‘Nah, leave him.’

‘It doesn’t look good.’ Em chuckles.

‘He’ll get up eventually,’ Louisa pitches in with a sly smirk.

One of the kids decides to execute a running jump that ends in a body slam on the dinosaur. We all hear the loud growl. Louisa, Em and Tim burst out laughing.
