“It was,” Grant said, brushing his knuckles over his chest in triumph. “We got thanked this time.”

“I heard,” Jolene said. Then she added loudly, “There is no one here better than me. Fair warning.”

There was a lot of laughter to that statement and he saw Jolene looking toward Ben. They’d just gotten the update on that, but Ben only shrugged and went back to drinking his beer with his nephew Mason.

“Guess you’ve got your work cut out for you no matter how good you think you are.”

“I’ve got this,” Jolene said. “Just like you had the two engagements that happened this week.”

Trent had proposed to Roni just a few days ago. “I’m better at this than I ever thought,” Grant said.

“You?” Diane said. “Please. Come on, Carolyn, we need to leave before my husband’s head explodes. He should know by now who is the real mastermind.”

He watched his wife walk away with his sisters-in-law and looked at Garrett. “What?”

“It’s me,” Garrett said. “I’m the mastermind. Don’t you forget it.”

He shook his head and went back to the party.

Teamwork was what got it done and he’d never forget it.
