She just needed to lose herself.

There was something about interactions with her mother that always set her off. It was almost as if it was premeditated now.

She’d hear her mother’s name and her blood pressure would rise.

She was so sick of never being enough that she wanted to prove she could be for one person in her life.

Fifteen minutes later she was pulling into Gabe’s driveway and walking to the front door.

She rang the bell and waited. He answered it a minute later.

“Elise,” he said. “What are you doing here?”

If it wasn’t for the big smile on his face, she would have lost her nerve.

“I came for sex. Yes or no?”

“What?” he asked.

“Yes or no. Don’t make me repeat it.”

“Are you sure?” he asked.

“Yes,” she said, moving in and shutting the door behind her.

Her arms reached up for him and went around his neck, his mouth crushed hers.

He lifted her under the arms and she hooked her legs around his hips. She hadn’t been upstairs in his house so it’s not like she had any idea where his room was.

She let herself be carried when she never had before in her life.

Each step had him rubbing against her. With their jeans on it was a friction she’d never felt before that was burning her up. If there was a match within ten feet of her she was positive her body would ignite it.

He almost tripped on the top step because she didn’t want to stop kissing him. “I’m going to fall if you don’t let me watch where I’m going.”

“I thought you’d be more coordinated,” she said.

“Insulting me isn’t going to get us naked,” he said.

But he had an adorable grin on his face telling her he was only kidding. She hoped so.

They made it to his room and she had all she could do not to let a sarcastic comment slip about the unmade bed and the clothes on the floor in the corner. His downstairs had been clean, but she wondered if that had more to do with him knowing she was coming before.

She couldn’t get distracted by the mess though. She had more important things on her mind.

He dropped her on the bed, then stood back and pulled his shirt over his head.

“Oh shit,” she said.

“Catch up,” he said. “You started this.”

She pulled her sweater over her head, but she really just wanted to stare at his chest. “You’ve got one hell of a body on you.”

“Thanks. What you’re doing to those beauties is a crime.”

She looked down at her sports bra that was sucking her in. “They get in the way.”

“They were put on your body for a reason. I was wondering if you had them reduced or if it was just my faulty memory.”
