It’s only been one month of being pregnant, but I’m already huge. Aurora warned me about naga/human pregnancies being a lot more intense than a normal human pregnancy, but I was not fully prepared forthis.
Thankfully, I have Lasta to take care of me pretty much all the time. He has been amazing throughout this, and I adore him for all the effort he’s putting in… but I won’t lie, sometimes it is a bit much. I would never say that to him though.
When he has to leave me to attend to his captain duties, he always makes sure someone comes to visit me, whether that’s Aurora, Lorelai, or some human girl that he’s seen me talking to. He never wants me to be alone, in case something happens or I need something.
Which is why tonight I’m putting together a dinner with all his favorite foods, including some roasted taura meat and mashed burgona. I even asked Aurora to bring me some zhisk from Prince Zalith’s stash, and she ended up bringing me the most expensive one!
Of course, I won’t be drinking the zhisk, but I know that Lasta needs it. I just hope he agrees to drink it and doesn’t try to pull some crap about needing to be sober in case I need help.
As soon as I’m done getting dressed, I head to our private dining area to help the servants set up the table. Lasta should be here within the next half hour.
When we announced that we were pregnant, Prince Zalith insisted on gifting us our own private quarters on the palace grounds, equipped with two full bathrooms, a master bedroom, a nursery, a small dining room, and even an area to see guests in.
It’s definitely a step up from what I’m used to, but I still can’t help but feel a little guilty knowing that there are still hundreds of slaves out there living in terrible conditions like the ones I did. I try not to dwell on that too much, though, considering there’s nothing I can do about it.
“Thank you so much, Vashnia. These place settings are beautiful!”
“You’re welcome, Krista. You’re glowing today! I can’t believe how fast your pregnancy is going by.”
“Me, neither! I won’t lie, it is getting a bit harder to walk.”
“Oh, here, let me grab you a seat. You can just wait right here at the table, and I will check on Lasta’s current location for you,” she says, pulling out a chair for me.
“Oh, you don’t have to do that. I really don’t mind helping.”
“No, I insist. I remember what it was like to be pregnant, and I wasn’t even having as many as you. Please, sit.”
I give in, taking a seat at the dining room table and admiring all the food they’ve brought in.
“Here’s some capra cheese to snack on while you wait. I heard about how you’ve been craving it lately.”
“Oh, thank you so much, Vashnia. You’ve been so kind.” I smile at her. She waves me off before exiting the room, leaving me alone.
As I’m waiting, I rub my belly while chewing on small pieces of the capra cheese. I really have been craving it almost every day.
Only a few minutes later, there’s a small knock at the door before Lasta walks in.
“Oh! You’re early! I wasn’t expecting you for a little while longer.” I beam happily at him.
“What is all of this? Is this for me?”
“It is! I thought you deserved a nice meal after everything you’ve done for me lately. And I know you’re sick of eating whatever I’m craving every night, so I had them bring all your favorites!”
He rushes over to me, taking my face in his hands.
“Thank you, Krista. This is so amazing,” he says before planting a kiss on my forehead and then my lips.
“Sit! You’ve been hard at work all day.”
He reluctantly takes his place across from me and surveys the table.
“You really did get all my favorites, and is this zhisk? How did you find this? I never keep any around here.”
“I had Princess Aurora bring me the Prince's favorite. And I won’t take no for an answer, you must drink it! I know you need it.”
