Oh, dear Lord. Was he scrolling through the internet windows I had open? I could tell he was, the slight twitch of one side of his upper lip an indication he was furious or worse. His chest evenrose and fell unevenly. Did I hear a slight snarl too? This was akin to opening my mouth and inserting a big, fat, muddy boot.

As I expected, he turned his head ever so slowly, catching my gaze in such a commanding way that newly formed rules or not, I couldn’t defy or disobey him. So we locked eyes for what seemed like a full two minutes, the strange sensations rolling through me so uncomfortable that beads of perspiration formed along the back of my neck.

I had more than one filthy thought, all of which entailed seeing him completely devoid of clothing, his big, fat cock on display. It was almost as if I could feel his hands on me, stroking my naked skin, pinching my nipples between his fingers until I cried out in anguish. That was seconds before I begged him for more.

And he gave it to me, thrusting his thick cock deep inside my aching pussy, fucking me like a wild animal.

I wiped my brow, trying to appear nonchalant. By the smirk building on his face, I could tell I was failing miserably.

Think about anything else.

Blood.

Death.

Okay, maybe not that.

Safety. He was here to play my hero just like my father had said. Security was in his blood. Right? He wasn’t going to allow me to die, which meant of course he’d lock down the house until no one could get in or out.

I’d noticed several men, all of them in charcoal suits only a couple of hours before. They’d arrived in two huge black Tahoes, all exiting at the same time, as if required by Francois’ many rules. They’d paraded around my father’s estate, touching every window and door, one man barking orders and the others doing exactly what he said.

I’d been fascinated for a little while, but when I’d noticed the men were carrying weapons, I’d retreated inside, pretending they weren’t locking me in like a bad little girl. It would seem pool time would need to wait. At least I’d had lunch with my dad immediately after. While he hadn’t grilled me on the events of the night in question, he had expressed his concerns about my great modeling career. I hadn’t told him that I’d likely just tanked my own career because of the stupid decision I’d made to go to the club.

I’d wanted to ask him about Francois then, grilling him about what he was involved in, but I hadn’t found the courage. In the end, we’d had a nice conversation about racecars and I’d learned more about them and the new track than I ever thought I’d care to learn. However, it was obvious my father was passionate about it.

I’d started hunting for every scrap of information on Francois the moment I’d slunk back into the house.

“Unfortunately, I have a meeting at the office I can’t avoid. It’ll be late before I return,” my father said, moving closer and pressing his hand on my shoulder.

“I’ll be here. What bedroom?” Francois asked as he finally handed me my computer. Thankfully, he’d held it away from my father so he wouldn’t see what I’d been searching. When our fingers touched, I was forced to suck in my breath.

Why did he have such a powerful effect on me?

The answer refused to shift past the rules firmly imbedded in the forefront of my mind. I lowered my gaze and snatched the laptop from his hand, snapping the lid shut once again before planting my palms on the couch to keep from inadvertently touching him.

Although I wanted to, the shivers coursing through me leaving me wet and hot.

Sadie must have taken my actions as an invitation, jumping onto the couch. I was shocked when neither man told her to get off. I remembered my father as being particular about furniture, the placement of art on the walls and books on a shelf. Either he’d changed dramatically, or my memories were more about my mother’s requirements instead. When the dog rested her head in my lap, I was certain I’d just fallen into a little slice of heaven.

I’d wanted a dog for as long as I could remember, something that had irritated my mother, her usual ‘out of the question’ answer forging a special place in my mind. Maybe I could convince my father to get a dog. I could stay here for an undisclosed period of time, getting my life together and figuring out what I wanted to do with the rest of it.

What was I thinking?

The truth was I had some money saved from all the modeling gigs, the investments I’d made doing very well. I could afford not to work for a long time until I determined what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. Maybe it was time to get out of the mainstream now, retire before I was labeled a has-been.

“I took the liberty of giving you the one next to Delaney’s. I thought you’d want to remain close.”

“Perfect. I hope you don’t mind, but I had another one of my soldiers install sensors on the windows.”

Sensors. The shit was getting real.

“I figured that’s what they were doing. Whatever you need to do to ensure my daughter’s safety is perfectly fine,” my father told him, grabbing his jacket from the back of the chair. “It goes without saying, my house is your house. There’s plenty of food and drink. I’m also leaving very early in the morning for the flight. You have my phone number if you need anything.”

Why did it feel like I’d never see my father again? “If I’m asleep when you return tonight, make certain and wake me in the morning so I can say goodbye.”

My father finally smiled the way I remembered him, as if I’d just given him a Christmas gift I’d made with my two hands. “I will.” He glanced at Francois one last time before walking from the room.

Sadie’s tail thumped, reminding me she still had her head in my lap. It was impossible not to enjoy the moment of being able to slide my fingers through her dense, multi-colored fur. I felt comfortable, as if nothing could ever bother us. How strange to feel that way when he’d already instructed some of his men to lock down the house even more.
