I take a seat in the chair Laney just left with a huff.

“I don’t know what else I can do to prove to her that I’m in this.”

My fingers massage my eyebrows as I try to come up with an idea.Do I need a grand gesture? Is that what she’s waiting for?

“I think I need to prove the same thing. While I can see she loves me, she’s hesitant to trust me again. I think we really fucked her up.”

“Oh, you think?” I say sarcastically.

He narrows his eyes at me. “Maybe chill out on the attitude. I would bet money that isn’t helping the situation either.”

I roll my eyes even though I know he’s right. I just can’t help it. So I’m a sarcastic mother fucker, who cares?

“Do we need to plot Akio’s murder? Or was I the only one who witnessed him touching her openly like that?”

Arrow laughs and damn is it good to hear that sound.

“Did you not hear the part where he’s gay?”

“Yeah, well, I thought I was gay once too,” I quip.

He shifts uncomfortably in his bed. It’s one of the nice beds that can be adjusted to sit up so he can talk, but he looks like he’s laying in a weird as fuck position.

“What do you need?” I ask, getting up from my seat. When I reach out to help adjust the blankets, he grabs my arm and pulls me to lay next to him.

“Just this,” he says as he leans into me with a contented sigh.

I chuckle and slip under the covers, pulling him close to my side. Laney might not have forgiven me fully just yet, but it’s clear Arrow has. He settles into me, wrapping his arm around my chest as I hold him close.

“I’m sorry,” I whisper. “If us losing you for two months really was my fault I’m so fucking sor—”

Arrow silences me with a kiss, grabbing my chin and refusing to let me apologize.

“I already told you, this isn’t your fault. Now stop apologizing.”

He rests his face into the crook of my neck. “But for what it’s worth, I’m sorry too.Iwas planning to leave you guys as well because this whole relationship and all the feelings scared me.”

“And now?” I ask, already knowing the answer but needing to hear him say it.

“Now I know there’s nothing to be more scared of in this life than losing the two of you.”

My arms tighten around him. He’s lost a lot of weight while sitting in this bed, and it almost hurts to feel how frail his body is in my grip. I know he will get it back, but it’s just a reminder that he’s vulnerable, and I’ve painted a target on his and Laney’s back.

“I forgive you,” I say, kissing him on the forehead.

“Good, and I forgive you. Now, let’s talk about how we can get our girl to forgive thebothof us.”

I turn to face him. “I think I have an idea.”

Just then, my phone rings, and an unknown number comes across the screen making me tense.

“Whatever it is, we will face it together.”

I nod in agreement as I answer.

“You better have a good reason for calling this number.”

“Well hello there, old friend,” Mac’s voice comes through the phone. “I was beginning to think you might have forgotten about me.”
