“Soon. We have to wait until something is set up or something, and then we have a pack house, and I can have visitors until I get myself sorted out. I miss you and my computer. Oh, one of my mates has a question for you.”

“Sure. What’s the question?”

She held out the phone to Denith. “She’s the one who fed me.”

He took the phone and held it close to his mouth. “Hello, miss.”

“Oh, wow. Nice voice. Uh, call me Nisha.”

“Nisha, what has Myrtle been living on? What foods?”

“Are you into food?”

He chuckled. “You could say that.”

“You are gonna hate this. The last five weeks have been an endless round of ramen with varying toppers. She loves obscenely spicy with hints of sweet, soft-boiled eggs, and chicken base. If you take me off speaker phone, I can tell you how you can tell if she likes something.”

He tapped the screen. “Tell me.”

He listened to the phone and smiled wide. “Seriously?”

Myrtle blinked as he stared at her, and his gaze reached all the way to her toes.

“Nisha, what about dessert?”

He listened and nodded. “Got it. Thank you. Look forward to meeting you in person, Nisha. You are an excellent friend.”

He hung up and handed the phone back to Myrtle. “That was informative.”

She checked, and her phone was charged. “Neat trick.”

“Thank you. You will be able to do it, too. It is one of the perks of being Elite. So, I have intel on you, and I am going to give it an hour and then make you a late-night snack.”

Myrtle smiled. “She must have liked your voice a lot.”

He smiled. “Can I borrow your phone? I need to make a call.”

She unlocked her phone and handed it over. He smiled, and she wandered back to Byron and Teyval. They walked her over to the couch, and she was eased onto Teyval’s lap while Byron massaged her calves.

“Let me know if you are going to reject your food,” Teyval said. “I am not sure where the restroom is.”

She leaned against him and sighed. “I think I am good. The extra square footage is taking up the strain.”

Teyval cuddled her close and stroked her thigh while Byron covered ankle to hip.

Myrtle looked toward the kitchen, and she was surprised to see Denith cleaning up with a slight smile on his lips.

She fidgeted under all the attention and finally said, “Please tell me there is a television to watch or something? I can’t stand all this attentive quiet.”

Byron leaned to the side and grabbed a remote, handing it to her. “You don’t like silence?”

“No. Not unless I have my computer. Then it can be completely silent.” She smiled. “I miss my computer.”

“Right. We will start transferring your possessions in a day or so.”

“It isn’t a possession. It’s my buddy. My constant companion. My soulmate.” She smiled. “I miss him.”

Teyval chuckled. “Him?”
