“Breakhis arm,”Poppyinstructed, utterly bored.

“No, please, please don’t,”DouchebagThreecried out, petrified.Heglanced at the exit but knewKevinwould catch him before he made it. “I’msorry.Pleasedon’t do this.”

Kevinhesitated, andRosepleaded withPoppy. “Stopit,Poppy.Youcan both get into a lot of trouble for this. They’velearned their lesson.It’senough.”

“I’lldecide when it’s enough,”Poppyreplied in a voice cool as a cucumber.

Roseshould’ve known better than to try and dissuadePoppy.WhereRosewas an insignificantBambi,Poppywas theBambi-killer.

“Breakhis arm,” she repeated toKevin. “Mylawyer’s on retainer.Bythe time he gets through, this will look like self-defense.”Sheglanced atDouchebagThreepointedly. “Andhe’ll be the one to get expelled for it.”

Kevinneeded no further encouragement.DouchebagThreeran for the exit, butKevinmoved at lightning speed.HecaughtDouchebagThreeby the coat and yanked him back.Kevingrabbed his arm and held it between both of his.

“Stop,”Poppysaid just asKevinwent to snap it in half.

Likethe perfect puppet,Kevinfroze in place at his master’s command.

“Leavehim.”

Kevinthrew the boy on the floor without a second thought.Poppystepped besideKevin.

“Crawl,” she ordered, pointing at the area whereDouchebagThreehad dumpedRose’sthings. “Pickup every item you threw on the floor.Stayon your knees until you’re done, orKevinwill break your arm.”

DouchebagThreehalf sobbed and half nodded, crawling toward the heap of items on the ground.

“Poppy, this is too much,”Roseprotested in a low voice, but a stern look fromPoppysilenced her.Noone dared to argue whenever she took charge.Shewas born to rule.Mylittle princess of darkness was turning into the queen of darkness.

DouchebagThreehanded the bag toRose, apologizing in between sobs.Noone asked him to apologize.Fearwas more effective than what happened to his comrades, still incapacitated on the floor.Poppyknew it, too.

“OnlyIget to torture my family,”Poppyinterjected beforeDouchebagThreecould crawl away with his tail tucked between his legs. “Makesure everyone on this campus knows that.RoseAmbaniis strictly off-limits from now on.Ifanyone harasses her,I’llhold you personally responsible, andKevinwill come by to beat you up.I’mputting him on retainer.”

DouchebagThree’slips wobbled.Notonly did he fear for himself, but now he had to go out of his way to ensureRose’ssafety.

Igazed upon the havocPoppywreaked.DouchebagThreewas still on his knees, surrounded by his friends on the ground.Blooddripped fromKevin’sfists.Roseappeared wretched about being surrounded by tattered bodies.Meanwhile,Poppywas undisturbed amidst the beautiful disaster as she paidKevinhis remaining balance.Likea phoenix rising from the ashes of her destruction, she was a surreal vision from a child’s nightmare.

Theimage was seared into my brain, an indelible mark that would no doubt haunt me as she did.Evenif there were a hundred men,Poppywould’ve found a way to defeat them without breaking a sweat and emerge unscathed.Herhardened features blended with the airy coolness she radiated, creating a combustible mixture.Theregal face resembled a fierce goddess of war and the angel of death mixed in one.

Iwatched her, mesmerized, unable to put into words what she did to me.Nomatter how many timesIsaw her, she never failed to captivate me with how she carried herself.Shewas the most remarkable specimenIhad laid my eyes on, and she had finally shown them whatIsaw every day.

Thebaddest, boldest bitch had made her presence known. She’dbe running this place from now on because she was meant to rule.

Likea dark queen.

Itwas the reasonIcouldn’t stop watchingPoppyfrom the shadows, even though she hated me with every fiber of her being.
