“What time is it?" I ask suddenly.

Glancing over at the digital clock on my nightstand, I'm surprised to find that it's nearly midnight. "Shit, it's almost New Year's. Do you want to watch the ball drop?"

"Sure," Molly says, smiling softly as I reach for the remote and turn on the TV.

We settle back into each other's arms, our bodies warm and tangled together, as the countdown begins on-screen.

"Ten... nine... eight..." The crowd chants along, their voices a distant echo in the background as Molly and I stare into each other's eyes.

“I love you so much, Molly,” I tell her.

“I love you too, Chase,” she breathes just as the clock strikes midnight. “Happy New Year.”

I capture her lips in a tender kiss. "Happy New Year, baby.”

And as the fireworks burst across the sky outside, I know that I wouldn't trade this moment for anything in the world. Because right here, right now, everything is perfect.

The End
