I flick my gaze to his and swallow hard. Now or never.

“I kissed Lily.”

His hands fly to the neck of his shirt like he’s clutching his pearls. In a low, breathy voice, he whisper-shouts, “Whaaaaat?”

I lick my lower lip, and I swear I can still taste her.

Fuck me.

Quinn’s on the verge of hyperventilating as he fans himself. “I’m over here, spouting off about getting rid of my grandma’s horrifying teddy bear collection and dealing with my mother’s watery bowels, and this whole time youkissed Lily? You absolute bastard,” Quinn fires back. “Why are we even friends?”

I laugh. “If it’s any consolation, it just happened tonight.”

His mouth drops open and he looks like a goldfish as it closes and opens back up. “No,London. Thatdoesn’tmake me feel better. It should have been fresh in your goddamn mind. You should have been chomping at the bit to share this news with me. Hell, why are you here? You should be with her. You should be—” He pulls up short. “Whyaren’tyou with her?”

My gaze drops to the table. I reach out and grab my glass, downing the rest of my drink. “It was a mistake.”

“Thefuck,” he sputters. “I’ve been waiting with bated breath for this moment. She deserves so much more than what she’s settled for. Tell me everything.”

I shake my head. “Can’t.”

He gapes at me.

“I just …can’t.”Not without a signed NDA and permission from Lily.

“She freaked, huh?” Quinn guesses.

“Something like that.” I reach out for the pitcher, only to realize it’s empty.

I look around the space, hoping to see the server.

“This is …monumental,” Quinn continues. “Do you know that this means?”

“She’s going to avoid me for the rest of our lives?” I offer.

When I look over at him, Quinn’s scrutiny makes me shift back into my seat.

“London, I gotta know something—” he adjusts in his side of the booth so he’s sitting up straighter and holds my gaze. “Be straight with me. I mean, I know you’re straight, obviously. That’s frustrating, by the way.”

I stare at him from under my low eyebrows.

He waves me off. “You know what I mean.”

I breathe a heavy sigh and drop my eyes to my empty drink. “Yeah, I know.”

He reaches out and places a hand over the top of mine. “Do you love her?”

My mouth goes dry and my stomach drops. Like, full-on plummets to the floor.

Do I love Lily?

The answer hits me like Cupid’s stupid arrow straight to the chest.

Of course.

I’ve loved her since we were kids.

I inhale sharply, wishing my fuzzy brain could suppress it. Because …
