Lily’s fingers dance over my mask, tracing the intricate designs before she slowly lifts it.

As it comes off, our eyes meet. No longer shielded by the fabric, the raw intensity of the moment makes everything else fade into the background.

The fact that we’re at Nocté.

That anyone could walk in at a moment’s notice …

None of that matters.

She leans in, her lips so close, but not quite touching mine. "What if I told you this affects me just as much—maybe more? And it has everything to do with you.”

My heart thunders in my chest like a storm demanding to be unleashed. "Then I'd say, why are we still talking?"

Lily hesitates for just a moment, the weight of the decision clear in her eyes.

For a moment, I swear, I’ve lost my damn mind.

All I can think about is this kiss, this beautiful woman sitting on top of me, and how I’ve wanted this for so long.

I can’t take much more of it—this tension and desire.

But I know I have to… Imighthave to.

Should I have to?

God, what are we doing?

Coming up for air, I practically pant, “Lily, we should stop.”

Her eyes are hooded as she leans back slightly, breathing as heavily as I am.

“There's so much more I want to discover about you, Lil. Beyond the masks, beyond the pretense. Just us,” I whisper.

She smiles, a touch of mischief in her eyes that instantly has me suspicious. "Then let’s start tonight."

I narrow my gaze, uncertain if she means what I think she means. “I don’t want to push you to before you’re—”
