Seth shrugs it off. “Okay, well … I’m going to take a quick shower and get to bed. I have to meet my boss early in the morning to go over this laser tag article and get my next assignment.”
“Oh, okay.” I nod, relieved. “I’ll be there soon.”
“Okay,” he says, laughing under his breath as he turns and makes his way to our bedroom.
I lean back, pressing my body into the couch cushions. My eyes drift closed as I take a deep breath to steady my nerves. The dull thud in my ankle reminds me of my phone and the fact that London’s text finally came through.
The sound of the shower running gives me the nerve to lean forward and pick up my phone again.
I tap on his message and glance around quickly before taking a peek.
*gasp* Lily, are you saying my sock puppet renditions aren’t sexy?
My eyelids slam shut as another laugh bursts from me. I can honestly say thelast thinghis sock puppet performances conjure in my mind is sexiness.
I type back.
Definitely not. LOL! Where’s your head, man?
He types back quickly—no delay this time.

Smiling now, I type back.

I giggle into my hand, trying not to be too loud. The shower has shut off and I’m pretty sure Seth has gone to bed.
Well, shit. That was brutal, Lily. Here I thought it could bring something old-school to the event.

I laugh, feeling so much lighter than I have for ages. It’s so easy to talk to London this way. So, I tell him.
