Anna shrugs.

“I totally agree. When Banner had to go into the bathroom to relieve his desires because he couldn’t handle the forced proximity with Alicia …” Tasia fans herself.

“Oooh, and then she walked in on it!” I fire back.

“So, are you saying that turned you on?” Vivian gasps in mock seriousness.

“I mean, well,” I mumble, flustered. My face heats up and I reach for my glass.

Vivian leans in, her eyes trained on me. “I thought you were, and I quote,‘only turned on by the sweet, romantic ones.’”

I bite my lower lip. “I mean, there’s something to be said about the way he was so different with her.”

“Say it,he was hot,”Vivian presses.

I press my lips tight. After a few seconds of deliberation, I spit out, “Fine, the way he wasdepictedwas hot.”

Vivian lets out a howl of approval. “Yes. I knew it. I knew we’d break you one day.”

I look up at the ceiling. “Oh, for godsake.”

“Things still strained between you and Seth?” Tasia asks, her eyes full of concern. She’s the only one who knows how things have been going and I’m not overly in the mood to change that.

I shift in my seat and stare down at my empty glass.

“Things are strained? Do tell,” Vivian says, twisting to face me.

She’s a magnet for drama and crazy shit. So when things are going good in her own life, she’s looking for it anywhere else.

“You need to divorce him and move on,” Anna says without a hint of empathy. When my jaw drops open, she just shrugs. “You deserve better.”

“Look, things arefine. He’s just gone a lot and things have been—”

“She hasn’t had sex in overtwo months,” Tasia fires back. “Sorry, Lil. You need some tough love here. It’s not normal.”

I blow out a slow breath and wait for the onslaught.

“You knowhehasn’t gone two months,” Vivian blurts out, then covers her mouth.

My eyes shoot to her.

“Oh, Lily, I’m sorry.” She backpedals.

“Let’s drop it, okay,” I say, wishing the next bottle of wine was already open.

I know things are strained with me and Seth. I’m not stupid. But we’ve been married for almost ten years. I’ve come too far to turn back now.

Besides, my sister Angie would have a field day.

“Oh, guys, I almost forgot. Our new bookmarks came in,” Tasia interjects, changing the subject. “Anyone feel like going next door to grab them?”

“Why are they next door?” Carlie asks, confusion clear across her freckled face.

“Tasia owns Dirty BooksandDirty Deeds,” Anna offers by way of explanation.

“We get more deliveries at Deeds, so I just send all the mail there,” Tasia says with a shrug. “Plus it’s fun to see the vein in Quinn’s forehead bulge when he thinks he’s being overworked.”

Everyone except Carlie laughs at that thought. Quinn is the sweetest gay guy you’ll ever meet but he does get hilariously agitated over too much work.
