"Thanks," I say, suddenly feeling uncomfortable.
We got back to playing cards before in walks a face I don't know, not that I knew any of these guys before yesterday.
"Miles! We thought you weren't coming!" Mike says.
"Well, we ... ugh, lost track of time," Miles says as he grabs a beer and an empty chair.
"Still in that newlywed stage, huh?" Ford jokes with him.
"As are you!" he fires back, and both men have shit-eating grins on their faces.
"Miles owns a small ranch and is also a state trooper assigned to the area. He plans to retire soon and take on ranching full-time. Not long after Ford tied the knot, he also got married. They have a bit of an age gap too," Jason tells me.
Then, as he introduces me, he fills Miles in on what I'm going through with Jenna and her parents.
We play a few more hands before phones start going off, mine included.
"Looks like the girls are done, and that's our cue," Mac says, and we all head out to our trucks and over to the other side of the ranch to get our women.
It looks like they had fun with tacos, brownies, and margaritas. As the guys walk into the living room, their girls run into their arms. Seeing a group of people in relationships like this reminds me of how badly I want it, too. I step out of the crowd, and my eyes find Jenna instantly. As soon as she sees me, her eyes light up, and she is rushing toward me, just like the other couples, she goes right into my arms.
"I missed you," she says in my chest as she holds me tight.
Wrapping my arms around her, I kiss the top of her head, asking, "Did you have fun?"
"Yes, I did. It was really great catching up with everyone and putting faces to the girls I hadn't met yet, but had heard all about. I'm definitely ready to go upstairs and have some us time. Did you have fun tonight?" she asks.
"Yeah, it was nice talking to the guys about the ranch and other things. But I definitely didn't like being away from you for so long. So, I'm ready to head up whenever you are."
At my words, Jenna looks around and sees Sarah right behind her, smiling at us.
Grinning, she says, "Hey Sarah, we are going to bed. See you in the morning." Then she hugs Sarah before turning back to me.
Taking her hand, we go upstairs to our room. We take our time getting ready for bed, but once we both crawl into bed, I pull her to me. Thinking of everything the guys and I talked about tonight, one thing kept coming back to me.
"When we get back, you have to get your stuff. I’m pretty sure you don't want to stay with your parents anymore. What I'd really like is for you to move in with me. Not just until you fix things with your parents or because you need to, but because I really want you there. Move in with me and let’s make my house our home. Every night, I want to come home to you. I want to hold you like this every single night."
"You mean it?" she asks slightly shocked.
"Every word. I really want you to move in with me."
"Then yes! I want that too. It's what I have wanted. But I didn't want to rush you into anything, so I was going to move into the apartment at Sky's place..." she starts rambling.
Quickly silencing her mind on the track it's gone off, I sit up and kiss her with excitement.
"I want you there. I want us." I tell her, and the smile that lights up her face is one I want to put there as often as possible.
"That is what I want, too. Right now, though, I also want you."
"What a coincidence. I want you too, more than my next breath."
Chapter 22
Jenna
AsIdriveintotown, I try not to let my nerves get the best of me. I am going to my parents' house to get clothes and the things I need to hold me over for a while. Basically, fill up my car. My brothers are going to be there to help, thankfully. Zach is bringing some boxes, and Asher is going to try to keep my parents under control.
My brothers say my parents are still pretty mad, so we have no idea what to expect. This morning, I let them know I was coming to pick up a few things. I need to get my more clothes, including my working uniform. Also, I'd like to grab some books and my computer along with whatever else I can get in my car. Josh said I should make plans with my parents while I'm here to get the rest of my things.
