"Got it!" Finn says, grabbing a box.

"Zach, can you pack up these two rows of books?" I point to my bookcase.

"No problem," he says, also grabbing a box.

"Want me to start on the bathroom items?" Asher asks.

"Yes, and I'll pack clothes. Once all those are in my car, I want to load up all the clothes I can. When Dad calms down, if you can get him out of the house so Josh and I can come back and get the rest, that would be great." I tell him while I pack my suitcases.

"There’s a property we saw the other day. It wasn't perfect, but I could ask him to go take a look at it with me. Probably I could guilt him into it. It would buy you about three hours since it's pretty close to Amarillo," Asher says.

"That would be perfect. I won't have much after today, just books and clothes." I look around.

"I'll pack up all the books and leave the boxes in here for you. Same with the closet if you want," Finn says.

"That would be a huge help if you could do it without getting in trouble. No reason to have Mom and Dad mad at you guys, too."

As we gather everything together, we talk about how things are going with them.

"Desk is done, so I will take this down to your car. I also have your computer and charger in your bag here. Want that in the car, too?" Finn asks.

"Yes, please. The computer can be in the front seat," I say as he heads out.

Both Zach and Asher take their boxes down to the car, too. Then the guys take down my suitcases and duffle bags that I'd packed. Before I know it, my car is packed, and it's time to head back down and say goodbye to my mom and dad.

"We will meet you by your car," Finn says as we go downstairs. While I go back to the family room, they go outside.

Facing my hostile looking parents, I try to keep it short before I lose my emotional control. "Well, I am going. I love you both," I say sincerely.

Neither of them says a word. I can tell Mom wants to just by the look on her face, but I also know she will support my dad, even if she doesn't agree with him. Maybe she can talk some sense into Dad, and we can end this soon.

Once I’m outside, I give each of my brothers a hug.

"I really miss Sunday dinners. How do you guys feel about coming over Friday night and having dinner with us? Start our own little tradition?" I ask.

The guys look a bit guilty, and each gives the other a look I can't quite read.

"What is it?" I ask, already annoyed.

"It's not that we don't want to. It's just..." Finn trails off.

"Friday nights are date nights." Zach finishes, and my heart sinks. Of course, they have dates and lives of their own.

"But if you can do it Thursday night, we can do that," Asher says, and just like that, I'm feeling better.

"That works. And we will be at your rodeo too, Finn. I promise we’ll keep away from Mom and Dad in order to keep the peace. But I haven't missed one of your local shows yet, and I don't plan to start now." I give him a hug.

"Good, I want you there," he says.

After a few more goodbyes, and promises that they'll see me on Thursday, I'm on the road back to Josh's, back home.

Chapter 23

Josh

Ijustgotinearly from checking on the cattle, and Jenna sent me to clean up. Today, her brothers are coming over, and I can feel the nervous energy coming off her. She wants the meal to be perfect and replace her mom's Sunday dinners. Ultimately, I think she just wants that feeling of family around.

Knowing this is important to her, I make sure to put on a good pair of jeans and a nice shirt. I also spray on some of that cologne she likes before heading back downstairs.
