And when I see the man who starts toward me, my heart stops beating.

“Wh-what… No.” Tears spill over. “It can’t be you.”

Prince smirks wryly. “Hey, Kayla. You’re not looking so well.”

Spine-chilling fear engulfs me.

“H-how… Why?” My head spins, black and yellow dots flashing before my eyes.

“Why?” he mocks before he crushes his teeth and bares them.

With a quick rush, he’s in front of me, a hand tightening aroundmy throat. The dots grow until I’m craving my next breath.

Sophia screams, and my hand reaches for hers and squeezes. I can’t let them hurt her. Not Sophia.

“Your friends took my father from me,” he says. “And for that, you’ll be the first to pay.”

“Your…your father?” I manage to choke out as he squeezes, his eyes filled with more rage than I’ve ever seen on his once-kind face.

“Agnelo Bianchi. You may remember him.” His mouth curls up for only a second. “I was just getting to know him after I found out I was his kid. My whore mother kept it from me until I found out and confronted her. So I located him and told him who I was. And instead of turning me away, he welcomed me into his inner circle.” Boiling with fury, he flays me with a stormy gaze. “He taught me how to be a man, wanted me to run his club after he retired. But then thefuckingCavaleris stepped in and took him from me! But I made him a promise that I’d continue his legacy, and I have. Now his name will live on forever.”

A sneer stays frozen on his smug face right before he lets me go and gets back up.

“Don’t worry, though. I made him another promise after he died, that when I found you, I’d sell you to the vilest piece of shit I could find. And I found just the right home for you and that little girl.” He gives Sophia a look that sends nausea into my gut. “He’s gonna love her.”

He chuckles, and Cammie joins him.

“And when I’m through here, I’ll come for Eriu too. Cute thing like her would sell for a lot of money.”

“No! Don’t you touch her!” I scream.

Sophia’s unending sobs cause my own to come in floods. She holds on to me through it while I grasp my fingers around hers, not knowing if anyone will save us in time.

CHAPTER FORTY-ONE

ADRIEL

I find her car,yet I don’t see her, and all the blood leaves my body.

Without a second thought, I rush across the street, and the instant I peer in through the door left ajar, I hear voices coming from inside on the left.

A child cries, and I know immediately it’s Sophia.

Fuck!

If they hurt her or my little wolf, there’ll be hell to pay. No one will be able to stop me from unleashing my fury on every single person involved.

More voices ring through, clearer now. I register Cammie’s laugh. At first, I don’t understand why she’d be laughing. Not until she’s telling Kayla how she lied… Lied about the doctor being the murderer. And in that instant, all the muscles in my body tense.

She’s involved?

My teeth snap. She lied to Kayla? I’m…I’m gonna kill her.

The more I listen, the angrier I seem to get. But once I hear another voice, that punk from college, I want to rush in there and gut them both. I never fucking liked him. Now I know why.

Who am I kidding? I hated the bastard because he wanted to fuck the one woman who belongs to me. By the sound of it, though, he had much more sinister plans.

Glancing around the perimeter of the house, I realize I have to surprise them. Gotta shoot them from the outside. If I can take him out quick, I can kill Cammie and save the girls. No way can I storm inside and think one of them wouldn’t shoot Kayla or Sophia. I have to be smart about this. Think before I act.
