I put in the combination as he starts talking.

“Remember what I told you about the money? That I’d help you?”

“Yeah,” I say, removing the padlock. “You said you’d find someone who deserved it—like aDexterversion of stealing.”

“Okay, well…I did it.”

“What?”

He grabs the bag from my locker and then sets it on the floor. He glances over his shoulder before opening his own backpack, pulling out a manila envelope, and stuffing it into the side pocket of my bag.

“There’s $3500 in there,” he whispers. “Lock it up, then take it home and hide it.”

“What?” I ask. “Where did you get this?”

“From Parks,” he says. “He deserved it.”

“Oh my god, Devon.”

“It’s going to be okay, Ally. You don’t have to wait until October anymore. You don’t have to stay there. I know someone who can make you a fake ID—he’s legit, too; it’s what he does. I’m going to wire him the money after school, and he can have everything ready in two weeks.”

“Are you serious?!” I ask. “I can leave?”

He nods. “I told you I’d take care of you.”

He zips up the bag, stuffs it into my locker, and replaces the padlock.

“You’re not kidding?!”

“No, I’m not kidding.”

I throw my arms around his neck and jump into his arms, wrapping my legs around his waist. I erupt into some weird mix of excited laughter and tears.

“Oh my god. I can’t…I don’t know what to say. I really thought you were going to break up with me.”

“You’re crazy,” he tells me. “I do have one condition, though.”

“What’s that?”

“No Florida,” he says. “No getting on a bus and getting as far away from here as possible. You need to stay close—somewhere I can still get to you. We’ll find a small town in the mountains where no one knows you or Mark or Grace, and they won’t suspect a thing.”

“But—do you really think I can hide in Washington forever, and they won’t find me? If I’m a minor, the police will look for me.”

“You don’t have to hide forever,” he says. “You just have to hide for a few months—just until you’re eighteen. Then, you can send the police a letter, post on social media, or withdraw from school. You can do tattoos, and when I graduate, we can go wherever you want. Fair?”

“I could never leave you anyway,” I tell him. “All I ever used to think about was getting away from here, and for so long, it was the only thing that got me through the day. But now, I can’t picture myself happy anywhere without you.”

“Ally, you have no fucking idea how happy that makes me.”

He leans in, and his lips meet mine. I part my lips to let his tongue in, and he runs his hands over the curve of my ass as he deepens the kiss. I moan against his mouth and tighten my legs around his waist, and he carries me across the locker room until my back hits the wall of a shower stall.

I think we each pour all our collective stress, uneasiness, and whatever else we’ve been feeling on top of the lust that’s always there into that kiss. We taste each other, bite each other’s lips, and tear at each other’s clothes. Devon grinds his cock into me, and it feels so good that I ignore the way my spine grates against the shower wall. I dig my nails into his back, and drag my tongue and my teeth up his neck, causing him to groan and set me back down on the ground.

“Take off your jeans,” he says as he starts on his own. “Be quick about it; we don’t have a lot of time.”

I unbutton mine and let them drop to the ground, then go for my underwear. Before I can step out of them, he has me pinned again. He hooks his right hand under my knee and hitches my leg to the side, easily driving his thick cock into my wet pussy.

“God, I’ve missed this,” he says as he drills into me. “You feel so good.”
