“What are you doing, Presley Ann?” he roars at me.

“You cheated on me. We can’t stay together anymore,” I whisper.

“No. You aren’t leaving. Don’t make me hurt you again, Presley. I promised I wouldn’t, but if you don’t behave—”

“I have it,” I blurt out without thinking.

His eyes narrow. “You have what?”

“The flash drive. The one you lost a few months ago. I remember your dad and you looking for it and fighting about it. I have it.”

His eyes flash with anger, and he takes a menacing step towards me. “And why are you telling me this now?” he growls in a low voice.

My body feels frozen as a cold chill slowly works through me. What am I doing? I can’t threaten him. I am not strong enough to do that. My silence seems to change something in Ben because he stumbles back a step.

“You looked at it,” he says, pain flashing across his face.

Not knowing how to continue this, I say nothing. I keep my eyes on him and try to watch for changes. His shoulders drop, and his eyes keep darting around the room like he can’t maintain eye contact with me.

“Fine. You can go. You can go have your break. You can take some time away, but we will work this out. You are not leaving me forever, doll. In life and death.”

I try to contain my shock at this change in him. He seems so… worried. What is on that drive?

“Presley?” A hand lands on my shoulder, and I jump out of the chair, cringing as it bangs into the wall behind me. “Angel, look at me.”

I glance up into Jackson’s stormy eyes. They look so concerned and worried; it’s too much. I can’t handle this right now. I need a fucking drink. I need to feel numb.

“I-I need to go lay down. I can’t—did you need anything else?” I ask as my voice wavers with emotions threatening to crash down on me.

Jackson glances at the other guys and then shakes his head. “No, you can go upstairs. I will walk you.”

“It’s okay. Finish church. I’ll be fine.” I try to give him a smile, but it’s forced and strained. Jackson opens his mouth but then snaps it shut and gives me a small nod. He leans down and kisses my forehead as he releases me. I quickly walk out and head back upstairs.

My legs carry me straight to the bar, and I sit down on one of the barstools. The prospect—Connor, I think—turns towards me. “What can I get ya?”

I open my mouth, but then a cup is slammed down on the bar in front of me. I flinch and jump as Raven plops down next to me. “Drink,” she says to me and turns towards Connor. “Shoo, kitty.”

“Don’t fucking call me that.” He snorts.

Raven smirks and raises a brow as he listens anyway and leaves. Turning back towards me, she pushes the cup closer to me. “Drink it. Now.”

“Bossy ass.”

She chuckles. “Got in one, babe.”

I pick up the glass and sniff it. Fuck me. Lemon water. I immediately chug it down and sigh in relief. I don’t know why this tastes so good. I usually hate lemon.

Raven tuts. “I fucking knew it. Get up!” She stands and grabs my arm, pulling me up with her. I stumble as she pulls me towards the stairs and up to mine and Jackson’s room.

“What are we doing?” As soon as we get into his bathroom, she shuts the door and locks it, then pulls something from her back pocket.

“No.” I shake my head, dread pooling in my belly. “No. I can’t. I’m not. Even if I am… I can’t. No.”

She sighs and drops it on the counter before pulling me into a tight hug. “I know, babe. I know. I don’t know what happened downstairs, but Rage texted me and said you needed me. I was already pulling back in from having run to the store with the prospect. I have had my suspicions, but you chugging the lemon water was confirmation.”

She pulls back and grabs my face between her hands.

“You are so fucking strong, Presley. I can’t even attempt to understand everything you are dealing with. But if this is real, if it is happening, this is different. It is different because you aren’t alone. You have a club full of people who will protect you until the day they die. You have a man who will love and cherish this child with everything in him. They will have a kickass aunt that will spoil them rotten.
