“I try to,” he sighs and pulls out a switchblade to flip in his hand. “But she will be something even better for them.”

We all nod and finish up dinner. Presley smiles and laughs with everyone at the table, enjoying the company. Afterwards, we get ready to head down to church.

Presley comes up to me and kisses me. “Do you know where Carly is?”

I wrap my arms around Presley and glance up, looking for Rage. Spotting him heading towards the back hall to go downstairs, I yell his name. He turns around instantly.

“Where’s Carly?” I ask.

He walks back towards us and looks at Presley. “Back at the college. She is going to try to come home this weekend, but she has some catching up to do…”

He doesn’t finish the sentence, but we all get it. Catching up to do after being stuck here while Ben was on the loose.

I turn back to my girl. “Angel, why don’t you stay down here with the boys?”

She shakes her head. “I am going to head upstairs, read a book or something. I’m okay.” She smiles at me.

“Positive?” I raise a brow.

“Yes.” After another quick kiss, she walks away. I let her go and don’t follow, attempting to force myself to trust her word and not hover.

We head down and get church started. Going over a few routine things before the construction business we want to build gets brought up.

“I’d like to make this a priority. Sugar, do you think getting it started is something that you will have time to do soon?”

Sugar nods at Rage’s question. “Yeah. I’ve already been lookin’ into some different options. Also, I have enough background in construction work. I will be able to learn shit quick and run a team.”

“Good. I know we are missing Stone right now, but he is still the next up for a house. Has anyone else had any thoughts about things for the property?” Rage directs his question at everyone in the room.

“I would like to discuss building a home for Presley and I,” I speak up.

Huge grins break out across almost every person in the room as they all bang their fists on the table and cheer and whistle.

“Our first official one out of all the ranking officers to be pinned down. Who would have thought it would be Axe?” Blade retorts.

“I for sure thought it would be Sugar,” Nerds says with a snort.

“What the fuck? Why me?” Sugar honestly looks deeply offended by the comment.

Nerds chuckles. “Because you got that southern charm. Just got to throw in a darlin’ and a wink and you're golden.”

“I’m not gettin’ married. Fuck off with that idea.”

“Alright, alright,” Rage says with a laugh. “Back on track. When do you want to do this by?”

“Well, I need to talk with Stone, but I am hoping we can work something out.” I glance at Sugar. “I don’t want to spread you thin, especially with just getting started, but I am sure Stone and I could help, and we could get both done? I would like it done in a year, maybe slightly longer if needed. Until it’s ready, we’re probably going to rent a small house close by. Also, I would like it a secret. I want to surprise her with a house.”

Rage grins. “I love that. We can just only mention Stone’s house and I am sure he will be on board with everything. So as long as Sugar thinks it’s doable, we will all pitch in where we can and get both houses done.”

Sugar nods. “I think we can do it. Axe, I already told Stone this, but I need to sit down with you too now and come up with a base blueprint so then I can work up a timeline and add in extra time to give you a rough estimate on how long it’ll take. I have a contractor set up to meet with Stone and I, so just come with us and we’ll be able to feel him out as well and see if he will be a good match.”

“Perfect. So get that going now and keep us updated. If anyone has any ideas or anything they want to toss in talk to Sugar, he will be the main point for everything.”

“Has anyone heard from Stone? How is Raven doing?” Blade asks.

“Yeah, he is checking in through text every day. I told him he had to.” Rage chuckles. “He rolled his eyes and grunted at me, but he has been doing it. He said today that she is better. The first few days she didn’t talk, and her eating hasn’t been great, but apparently they found… a hobby?” He says it like a question.

“Um, what hobby? Why do you sound so unsure?” I ask.
