Her eyes widen in surprise. “How did you know that?”

“Because we checked the cameras to see if someone followed Presley and saw you.”

She smirks, but it falls from her face just as quickly. “That doesn’t matter anymore. I should have just left with Presley like I was supposed to.”

I study her for a second. “You were setting a trap for him?”

“Wait… yo—you know?” she stumbles over her words, shocked.

A scoff sounds from the door. “We all know. Only you and him don’t know.”

Raven looks from Rage to me. “I know now. But I didn’t at first.”

“Why didn’t you come to us if you didn’t know who it was at first? Someone stalking you is no joke, Rav.”

She smiles softly, “Because I never felt threatened. I also knew when he was listening, so I’d purposely complain. I tried to trap him that night at the club, but the guy I was trying to use was too drunk. But I know it’s him now. I had my suspicions for a while, but he basically verified it after Presley was hurt. He’s been watching me like a hawk and is always around. But not in the shadows now.”

“And that doesn’t bother you?” Rage asks.

She shakes her head. “No. Like I said, I never once felt threatened or in danger. He annoyed the shit out of me. But also didn’t. I enjoy knowing he’s there. Plus, it’s kinda fun.” She shrugs.

Rage and I both laugh. “Well, he’s one lucky son of a bitch. He’s a good guy, Raven. Just be patient with him, okay? He’s got his own demons, and I think he is conflicted about his feelings. Hell, I don’t even think he understands his feelings for you.”

Her face softens. “Of course I will. I can understand that.”

A quiet groan comes from Presley, and we all look over as she slowly blinks her eyes, not fully opening them. We can tell when everything registers in her mind because she tenses and tries to sit up fast, but I stop her.

“Presley! Open those eyes and look at me. You’re safe. He’s gone. It’s just me, Raven, and Rage now. Breathe, angel.”

She opens her eyes, and they lock on mine. I take deep breaths until she does it with me and calms down. Rage grabs a nurse, and she comes in to check over Presley before saying everything looks good. After she leaves, Raven hugs her and whispers in her ear.

Rage grabs the extra chair from the corner and pulls it up next to Raven, taking a seat. “I really hate to do this as soon as you wake up, but we need you to walk us through everything from that night. Can you do that for me?”

She slowly nods before pointing to the water.

After she takes a few sips, she explains everything. From the moment she left the club until she passed out. Raven and Presley cry together as I attempt to rein in my anger. I want to go hunt him down and kill him slowly and painfully. How fucking dare he show his face here.

Rage drops a hand on my shoulder. “Take a walk, brother.”

I shake it off and snap, “I’m fine.”

Rage goes to say more, but before he can, Presley grabs my hand. I look back at her, and she gives me a soft smile. “Lay with me? Please?”

I immediately feel my body relax, some of the tension draining out of me. Not all of it. I don’t think I will feel calm again until I watch that bastard take his last breath. But for now, I get on the tiny bed next to her.

Raven and Rage leave, giving us some space.

I blink a few times, realizing how quickly and easily Presley just pulled me out of my dark thoughts. She’s an angel. My angel. This will never happen again. I will destroy every single fucker who dares to hurt my girl.

Chapter Fifteen

Presley

“Howareyoufeeling, angel?” Axe asks in a soft tone.

My initial reaction is to lie, to say I’m fine. But for some reason, those words don’t come out. “I’m terrified. I’m terrified that when I leave this room and my reality hits, I won’t be able to survive. I’ve lived a privileged, beautiful life, Axe. Nothing bad has ever happened to me. The worst was my parents cutting me off for some unknown reason. But this? How do I even begin to comprehend this?”

He sighs and rests his forehead on top of my head. “I wish I could answer that for you. If I could, I’d take away all your pain. I’d suffer it myself a thousand times over before having to see you go through it. But I can’t.”
