She tugs on the chains again and they clatter against the wooden headboard.

The red bandana that’s tied around her mouth does its job of keeping her quiet.

Angry. Blood.Mine.

Leaving my belt buckle undone, I push off the pillar and place my whiskey onto the small desk opposite the bed. I don’t speak, but she follows me with unease. They always do. No doubt they have questions… none of which iswhy are we here?

She pulls at her restraints again. This is one we saved for a reason. She has a purpose.

“Stop.”

The motion is instant. So obedient.

“Spit out the bandana.”

Her lips pucker as they push the material out.

I lean over her body, unlatching the cuffs from around her wrists. Her hands fall free, as she swipes the drool of saliva that drips down her chin.

“Stand.”

She wobbles to her feet, naked and bruised as the moonlight contours her every curve.

Nothing.

I feel nothing. Not that I ever did when it came to fucking women, but this feels different and I don’t know why.

My jaw tightens as blood rushes through my veins the more I think about it. Not even a fucking twitch from my cock.

I rest my head against the post. Gesturing to the slightly open window, the corner of my lip curls. “Go to the patio.”

She trips over her own feet a few times before finally reaching for the handle. It clinks against the metal before it widens.

“Sit on the ledge.” I don’t move, simply watching as she shuffles herself over the railing.

The wind catches her hair as she turns over her shoulder. “Can I come back in now?”

I tap at my nose and watch as her eyes fall to the ground. Her mouth turns downward as her shoulders sag with defeat. It’s the exact moment she realizes that she isn’t coming back in.

My head shakes from side to side. “Fall.”

She swallows but without hesitating, disappears from the ledge. A moment later, the heavy thump of her body hits the concrete below.

And there it is. My cock turns hard. Looks like she didn’t live long enough for her purpose.

Halen

“You good?”Evie asks from the passenger seat. When I don’t answer, she rests her hand on top of mine. “You’re spacing out.”

My body jerks and I search the familiar angles of her face, desperate for anything to anchor me back down to reality. After everything that happened on Perdita, I can’t seem to catch my feelings on it all. The boys are unhinged. I never would have thought it’d have been that extreme. It’s not enough that they kill our enemies, they also have to use them as pawns for their morbid obsessions.

I think over everything we were trained in, searching for the clause, how to dismantle the human body and get off on it,but come up short.

Perfecting the art of removing your emotions for decision-making.

How to manipulate people and their own narcissism to get what you want.

Cues when someone is being duplicitous and misleading them into telling the truth. “People don’t tell you their lies. They show them.”There was always a mixture of finance, combat, being around crews that operate beneath us, but when it came toour enemies, nothing. They gave us nothing on them, and that’s when it hits me.
