“What did you say,” he asks.

I lift my head up and tilt it to the right. “I said, make…” Then to the left. “Me.”

I’m not sure which occurs first, but it’s between shock and awe. He thrusts me back onto the ground with one hand around my throat and the other around his cock. He’s inside me before I have a chance to take my next breath.

“Tell me that again,” he says, his forehead pressing against mine. His hand doesn’t leave my throat and he squeezes just enough to be forceful, but not to cut off my air.

He drives into me, his body in tune to exactly what mine is longing for; hard, deep, and a ferocious impact.

“Fuck me,” I let out, almost in a scream. “Oh my God, fuck me!”

A rumble builds in his chest and vibrates as it escapes through his mouth. “You. Are. Mine,” Shayde says as he drives faster.

“Yes,” I call back. “Fucking yes!”

I can feel the thorns of his cock grow as he comes closer to his orgasm. The edges coax my g-spot continuously as if a vibrator were teasing me to my own climax.

My soul shatters the moment my body seizes with the orgasm as it wrecks my body. The stars flicker brighter and Shayde snarls to the sky before bringing his mouth down upon my shoulder and marks me as his mate once again.

As the night draws to a close, our bodies entwine with one another, hearts beating as one. The dawn will bring new challenges, but we face them united, guided by our love and the unyielding determination to see justice prevail.

We surrender ourselves to the realm of dreams, knowing that our love will endure, casting its own light upon the shadows that threaten to consume us. Tomorrow will begin my new life in the necromantic community as well as Blackthorn Academy. There’s so much to do, record, and just… do.

But for now, my attention and focus are on us for as long as we’re allowed to share it before having to retreat to the confines of the academy.

CHAPTER19

A month has passedsince the battle took place just outside Blackthorn Academy. The elders who were determined to bring down the necromantic community were arrested and are now awaiting their trials.

As I stare at myself in the mirror of chambers of the necromantic leadership center, I think back to the evening I almost died when the late Dafni Frangidi attempted to unalive me. She never reanimated like her mother threatened to do as a Lich. I suppose Dafni never opted to make that transition. A shiver rushes up my spine and I close my eyes to focus on Shayde’s image in my mind’s eye.

Today is the day. Coronation day. The day I am meant to accept my role as the leader of the necromancers. I let out a long breath and open my eyes once more. The weight of destiny hangs heavy on my shoulders, and doubt gnaws at the edges of my mind.

Am I truly ready for this responsibility?

The answer echoes through my thoughts, resounding with uncertainty.

No, I am not.

A knock at the door of my chambers alerts me its time. I stand and as I make my way across the floor, I can’t help but feel as if I’m walking in a dream and my feet are slowly sinking into the floor like molasses.

Unlocking it, I pull it open to a smiling part dark elf, part phoenix on the other side. Shayde clears this throat. “Are you ready?”

I nod. “No,” I mutter instead. “Is anyone ever actually ready for something like this?”

He touches the side of my cheek and smiles. Tilting his head slightly, he says, “Your hesitation, is what will make you ready and a great leader.”

I shake my head. “You realize that makes no sense, right?”

“Sure it does.” He holds out his hand and I place mine in his. We start down the hallway and Shayde begins chanting under his breath, “Dead man walking. Dead man walking, here.”

“Ohmygawd, stop it,” I say, and smack his arm.

He chuckles. “Come on, you needed the laugh!”

“Am I laughing?” I stop and place my hands on my hips. “Do you see any humor here?” I point to my face.

Shayde lets out an, “Umm…”
