Capturing my mouth again, his fingers move between my legs and tickle my secret spot, doing something, and the next thing I know, I’m screaming his name and feeling like I’m floating.

My body buzzes with undescribed pleasure, and I think I might have just died and gone to heaven. His tender kisses and nips along my neck settle me back down. My eyelids are heavy, and I want more rest, but he forces me awake.

“That was perfect. You’re such a good little girl for Daddy.” His praise makes me want to cry. I’ve never had that before.

“Daddy?” I whimper as his fingers continue to move, slower, gentler, but with no less pleasure than before.

“You’re okay, little one, just bringing you down.” He kisses my lips, lingering so our breaths mingle. “You’re such a good girl.” I twitch in his embrace before he finally pulls away. I watch as he brings his fingers to his mouth and sucks the moisture off.

I should be embarrassed, but I have a feeling he wouldn’t like that, so I allow my eyes to watch his every move. Storing the information for later.

“Boss,” Marco sighs.

“Marco, we are going to have issues if you interrupt me with my little girl again.” His tone is neutral, but a thread of steel laces through.

“You’re the one who asked for the doc,” he bites back.

Burying my head into Nick’s chest, I wrap myself around him like a monkey. I don’t want to let him go. I don’t want to let go. I’m becoming addicted to him in a way I didn’t think was possible. He’s everything to me, and I want to be the same for him.

“Rue, this is Doc Miranda Stevens. She’ll be your personal physician.” I glance over at the woman briefly before hiding back into Nick. I love the sound of his laugh, the way it vibrates through my whole body. “Come on, little girl, let’s get you settled so you can talk with her. Marco, do you have that file?”

He must have nodded because nothing else is said as Nick picks me up. “Please don’t leave me,” I whisper in his ear. His hands squeeze my butt to reassure me.

“I must say, Mr. Gambino, I was not expecting your call.” He grunts in reply. I like that she doesn’t call him Nick. I don’t want other women talking to him so familiarly. “Anything in particular you’re looking for with her?”

“Time to let go, little one.” He nuzzles my ear, kissing along my shoulder. Reluctantly, I release him just as I see Marco leaving and the door closing behind him.

“Read the file.” His voice is harsher with her.

Tucking me into his side, his hand rubs along my arm, the act soothing the butterflies in my belly. I notice the doctor flipping through it, her face giving nothing away until, finally, she’s done.

“Well, that was an interesting read.” She lifts her pack and opens it, beginning to retrieve some instruments. The sharp ones give me pause, and I try backing away. “I’d like you to bring her into my office for a complete physical, make sure nothing is wrong inside. I’d like to do an ultrasound as well.” Nick agrees to this…in a few days.

“What does that mean?” I choke back the alarm rising in my throat.

“Hey, my girl, it’s alright. You can trust Miranda.” I don’t trust anyone but Nick. I can’t. His hands move to begin unbuttoning my shirt. “The thing that concerns me the most is the scars. Her mother liked to make her bleed when she was a small girl.” He opens the bottom of the shirt to show her the faint white lines.

“Were stitches ever required?” She puts gloves on and leans down to get a better look. “Can I touch you, Rue?” I glance up at Nick. He gives a slight nod to me, so I agree. Reaching forward, her finger traces along a couple of lines before she sits back. “Do we know about stitches?” she asks again.

“What’s that?” My eyes dart between the two of them.

Miranda’s eyes flash with shock. “It’s like this stitch here.” She points to the bottom of my shirt. “If you were cut too deeply, you’d need to have your skin sewn closed so it heals.”

Closing my eyes, I try to remember beyond the pain I experienced. Past the fear. Brushing my fingers across the most prominent scar, I shudder as I recall the feeling of the knife digging into my skin. The way blood spilled out and how it went deeper and deeper. It felt like the cutting would never end.

“Yes,” I finally whisper. The image of a man with some of the tools this doctor has assaults me, and I recall passing out after he dug into my skin a couple of times. “It hurt so much.”

“No anesthesia?” Her horrified words make me look down at her. I don’t know what that means, but I guess it’s bad. Shaking her head, her expression clears, and she closes my shirt. Patting the chair next to her, I sit, and she does the same in the other one. Nick remains leaning against the front of his desk, his gaze never leaving me.

“I’m going to want to do an ultrasound of your entire stomach.” I stiffen at her words. “It doesn’t hurt at all.” She reads my reaction. “It’s a small wand that I rub along your stomach, and it gives me a video of what’s going on inside of you.” I nod my understanding, even though I don’t, not really, but I suppose I will eventually.

“Today, I would like to check your vitals, do a urine dip, and take some blood for some tests.” She looks to me for confirmation.

“She’ll explain everything as she goes, little one. One thing at a time.” Nick traces the line of my jaw, drawing my attention. I search his eyes, but I know he’d never do anything to hurt me, and he won’t allow anyone else to, either.

“Alright.” I agree, despite my nervousness.

She does my vitals. Checks my heart, lungs, ears, mouth, and everything in between. There isn’t much she hasn’t touched by the time she’s done. After I’ve peed in a cup and given it back to her, she explains that she’ll send it to her lab for testing, but it likely won’t show much because I seem to be healthy otherwise.
