He snorts a laugh. “Yeah right, with the way that girl flirts? Shay would have my balls.”

“I’ll find something else for her then,” I grumble, mentally setting that task aside for another day. “After I figure out what to do about Tayla.”

The corner of Sam’s mouth kicks up in a smirk. “Any ideas?”

He’s never hidden his dislike for Tayla Bancroft. Ever since the first night she came onto me after one too many glasses of scotch, he’s been not-so-subtly hinting that the girl’s trouble.Guess he was right.

I sigh, leaning back in my desk chair and scrubbing a hand over my face. “You asking what I want to do, or what I should do? Because last night I was ready to fucking end her.”

Sam chuckles softly. “Yeah, Shay told me as much.”

I press my lips into a thin line. “She’s a problem. If she can’t accept Juliet as her Luna- which I know she won’t- then she’s gotta go. Exile seems extreme, but I won’t have her going around stirring up dissention in the pack.”

“What did Juliet say about that?”

I lean forward to grab a pen off the desk, clicking the end of it absently. “She had a good idea, actually. Give Tayla the option to relocate to the six-pack. Out of sight, out of mind, I guess.” I continue clicking the pen, thinking back to my conversation with Juliet this morning in bed. “Tayla’s great with the marketing stuff for our clubs, and she can put those skills to use with the ski resort and brewery that the six-pack owns and operates. It’s a win-win.”

“I’m surprised she doesn’t want to gut Tayla after last night,” Sam mutters. He picks a piece of lint off his t-shirt before glancing back up at me. “Or thatyoudon’t.”

“I never said we didn’t want to,” I admit with a wry chuckle. “But… that’s not the type of leadership this pack needs. We want to be respected, not feared.”

“Fair enough.” Sam sighs as he pushes to his feet, tucking the folder I gave him under his arm. “For what it’s worth, I think the pack’s gonna love Juliet when they get to know her. Doesn’t matter if she’s from here or not, she fits right in. She’s one of us. And she’s a good influence on you, too. Anyone ever tell you that you work too damn hard? I almost died of shock last night when you left us to clean up rather than hovering like a control freak.”

“Hey, watch it,” I snap, a grin pulling at my lips.

Sam laughs shaking his head. “I’m just saying, you have to delegate shit out once in a while. You’ve got a whole pack willing to step up and help whenever you say the word.”

“I appreciate that,” I say. “And thanks again for stepping in last night.”

He waves me off with the flick of a wrist. “Don’t mention it. If my girl was tased in an alley, I would’ve wanted to rush home to be with her too.”

It took a whole five minutes after Jules left in the Camaro last night for me to realize that I should’ve gone with her, and a whole two minutes after that to leave things in Sam’s hands and take his car back to the packhouse. Good thing I did, or I wouldn’t have been there to witness Tayla spewing filth at Juliet.

“You still doing that thing tonight?” Sam asks as he starts to edge toward the door.

“Yeah, did you pick it up?”

Sam nods. “In your top desk drawer.” He pauses in the doorway and a grin spreads across his face. “Good luck.”

“Thanks,” I laugh, pushing back in my chair and reaching for the drawer pull. As soon as I open it and see what’s waiting inside, my pulse kicks up a notch.

Tonight can’t come soon enough.

My heart trips over its valves when Juliet steps into the living room of the packhouse where I’ve been waiting for her for the past twenty minutes. I can’t find it in me to complain about her tardiness, though- not when she walks in looking likethat.

I practically have to pick my jaw up off the floor when I lay eyes on her.

She’s wearing a black dress that looks like it was dipped in moonlight, the fabric glittering with every movement. The front is cut in a deep V, sheer material shading the outline of her breasts in between, with thin, delicate straps over each shoulder. The dress clings to her waist and hips, accentuating every curve of her body, the hem falling to her mid-calf and a slit running up the left side to the top of her thigh, giving me a delicious peek at her long tan legs beneath. Black stilettos are strapped to her feet, and her hair is pulled back in a loose side bun, perfectly coiffed. My eyes are drawn to the gentle curve of her bare neck, her prominent collarbones. And her face… she’s beautiful without a stitch of makeup, but the smoky eyeshadow, winged liner, and mascara slicked lashes make her blue eyes pop even more. She’s a fucking vision, a goddess that has me ready to fall to my knees in worship.

“You look fucking exquisite.”

The corner of her mouth ticks up. “You think?”

I rise to my feet, striding toward her with a predatory gleam in my eye. As soon as I’m upon her, I reach out to trail my knuckles down her arm, inhaling deep as her coconut and lilac scent surrounds me.

“Where are we going?” Juliet asks, blinking up at me.

I grin. “You’ll see.”
