Brady reaches for my hand. "I've waited 9 years to call Izzy my wife. There's no way in hell I'm going to get tired of her. So, we'll let the board decide what they want to do with all this information."

He gently tugs on my hand as he stands. I follow suit, my mind racing. What just happened? Did he really just tell the entire board we're married before I had the chance to tell my family?

"I'm sorry," he mumbles against my hair as he walks out of the conference room with me. "I'm so sorry."

I pinch the bridge of my nose with my thumb and forefinger. "We need to tell my parents. We need to tell them before this gets out and everyone else knows before they do."

"We'll go right now," Brady nods. "I'll take you right now."

I grab my purse off my desk and glance over my shoulder. Angie's standing in the doorway, her eyes like slits as she watches me.

"Should I be worried about her?" I ask Brady as the elevator doors open.

He steps in front of me, shielding me from her death-like glare "No."

"Brady," I exhale heavily, "is she in love with you?"

The doors close and he immediately pulls me against him. "I think so. I...I didn't know until now."

"But she's married to Andre," I try to reason. "She's married to Andre."

Brady kisses the top of my head. "We'll figure it out, Iz. I promise."

I hug him, wishing things could be easy. Knowing a life with Brady might never be.

Chapter 31

My palms are sweating as I push open the front door with Brady right behind me. I guess I'm telling my parents I got secretly married.

I should have seen this coming. I don't know why I thought I could hide it. I never should have hid it. I should have been honest from the start.

I thought they'd tear apart my relationship like they used to.

I thought they'd tell me how disappointed they were in me.

I thought they'd try to talk me out of being happy.

Even so, I should have been honest.

"Don't beat yourself up, Iz," I hear Brady over my shoulder as his hand slips into mine. "We made this decision together."

I stop walking and stare down at our twined fingers.

"Iz?" Mom's voice trills down the hallway. "Is that you?"

I squeeze Brady's hand. "Yeah, it's me and Brady."

Mom peeks her head out of the living room. "Why are you home so early?"

Brianna's feet pitter-patter down the hallway as I bend down to grab her. She jumps into my arms and smiles at me.

"Did you come home early to play with me?" Brianna squeals.

Nervously, I lick my lips. "Actually, I came home to tell you and Grandma and Grandpa something."

"You're pregnant," Mom blurts out.

"No," I frown as I look at her. I guess I could be. Not like we've been using protection or anything.
