When I reach him, Brady's fingers slide along my waist and he tugs me against him. We stare at each other for several charged seconds before he kisses me. It's deep, delicious, and divine.

There are a few moments I could live in forever. The moment Brianna was born. The first time I heardMamafall from her lips. And this moment—bare and naked in front of the only person I ever truly felt myself with apart from my daughter.

"I have something for you," Brady says when he breaks out kiss.

"You do?" I ask, surprised.

"I need to tell you something first," he sheepishly smiles.

"OK." This is not exactly how I saw this going. But he's smiling. So, that's a good sign. I think.

Brady reaches around me and grabs something out of his laptop bag off the floor. My heart races as I wait for him to reveal whatever's in his hand.

"This..." he trails off as his eyes soften. "I bought this after I came home from California. After you told me we were done."

My hands find his shoulders as I stare at him. "What did you buy?"

Brady takes a deep breath before opening his palm. There's a black velvet box sitting there.

"What's this?" I ask him.

"I love you, Iz," he licks his lips. "I've always loved you. I always will love you. This isn't a proposal, but it's a promise. A promise that when you're ready, I want to marry you."

My eyes widen as he pops open the top and my eyes take in a massive—MASSIVE—engagement ring.

"I know you weren't expecting this," Brady begins rambling. "I didn't want to scare you. You haven't been divorced that long and you're trying to build a good life for you and Brianna. I don't have a timeline in my head. I just..."

"It's beautiful," I tell him as my breath catches in my throat.

"Yeah?"

I nod as my gaze flits between his relieved face and the emerald-cut diamond in his hand. "Yes."

"When you're ready, I want you to tell me."

I know this sounds crazy, even to myself, but I feel readyright now. Instead of saying that, I press my lips to his to keep from blurting anything out.

"Brady," I mumble against his lips.

"Yes?"

"I love you, too."

He smiles against my mouth as he stands. I keep my hands on his shoulders while he quickly works to take his pants off.

"Faster," I tease him as I run my hands over his toned stomach.

"I'm trying," he laughs as his trousers get stuck around his ankle.

Brady sets the open engagement ring box on the nightstand before helping me onto the bed. He lays me down beneath him and cups my cheek in his hand.

"Too much?"

I shake my head as my heart bursts wide open. "No. It was exactly what I needed."

His fingers trail down my neck and over my collarbone. "I knew it."

My back arches off the bed as his fingertips circle my nipple. "I love you."
