“Crystal, we need to stay on schedule.” Sydney tapped her watch.

“I’ll get out of your way.” Zach returned to the water fixture and dug around in his toolbox. He stole a glance at Crystal, who hobbled closer, opened her suitcase, tucked the broken shoeinside, and strapped on some sort of wedge ones. More heels? Total insanity. What else had she packed? Bad enough he had the image of her sweet ass in that thong burned into his brain. He didn’t need to see the lacy bras, silky shirts, and strips of what might pass for underwear all out on display.

The rumble of a motorcycle grew louder as Levi rode up and dismounted near them. He hardly ever visited the campgrounds, always busy at the marina. Everyone turned to look at him, and Trevor held the camera up again.

Must have come to get on film, that ham. He’d signed a waiver and encouraged them to use as many shots of him as they wanted. With a big grin on his face, he stopped in front of Crystal and held out a hand. “Hey. Heard you were here. Welcome. I’m Levi.”

“You’re the one who does the boat stuff, right?” She shook his hand.

“Guilty as charged.” He raised his sunglasses and checked her out from head to toe, his gaze stopping on her smudged shirt. “Are you all right?”

Glancing down, she frowned. “Ugh. I didn’t see that. I fell.”

“I’m sure it will wash out. You okay?” Levi leaned in, his voice full of concern.

Zach yanked a washer out of the fixture. Leaning in, really? Did any woman fall for that?

“I’m fine. My shoe isn’t, though. And it’s my favorite pair.” She bent to fish the broken heel out of her suitcase, and Levi slid his shades back down. No doubt so he could check out her ass.

Zach focused his attention back on the spigot.

“That looks like a clean break. I’m sure it can be fixed,” Levi said.

“Zach said there was a shoe repair place next to the farm stand. I don’t think that’s the case.”

Levi laughed. “No, but I can get it fixed for you.”

“Really?” She nibbled her lip. “Do you think it will cost much?”

“Nah. It’s a simple repair. I’ll send it out to the online shoe shop, and they’ll ship it back.”

Zach’s face heated. What horse shit. An online repair shop—his ass. Levi was making stuff up as he went along. He probably had boat glue in the marina he planned to use. Regardless, Crystal was buying his BS. Why was she worried about the repair cost? Didn’t she have closets full of money all over her penthouse?

“I’d be grateful, and of course I’ll pay for it. I didn’t pack many shoes. Had to leave room for clothes.” She waved a hand at the open suitcase and flipped the lid, covering the contents like she’d just realized her lingerie was on display.

Not fast enough.

Levi’s grin widened. “I’m happy to help in any way I can.”

Zach cursed under his breath and shoved the newly clad valve stem back into the fixture. Unbelievable.

“Hey, bro.” Levi glanced at Zach and laughed. “What happened? Did you fall in the lake?”

“Can it. Don’t you have work to do?” Zach reassembled the fixture.

“Not when there’s a beautiful lady here to distract me.” He leaned in again and said loud enough for Zach to hear him, “He tends to be grumpy.”

Crystal smiled and said in a soft tone, “I kinda noticed that, but thanks for the warning.”

“If you want some fun, I’m your man.”

Zach bit back the caustic reply on the tip of his tongue and turned the water shut-off back on. Let them whisper and joke all they wanted. He didn’t give a crap.

“You have a smudge on your nose.” Levi touched his own.

“I do?” Crystal wiped the wrong side. “Is it gone?”

“No. It’s… may I?” Levi held his hand up.
