Then Denali slipped inside Zayde’s ass, stretching him wide. Zayde released a long moan as his mate filled him completely, both of their bodies entwined in perfect harmony. His body shook with pleasure as Denali increased the intensity of his thrusts.

Denali struck, sinking his sharp canines into Zayde’s shoulder. Zayde cried out, clinging to Denali as his orgasm ripped through him once more.

His mate buried himself inside Zayde while pulling his canines free. Denali buried his face in Zayde’s neck and let out a loud groan. Then he pulled free and dropped to the bed.

Exhausted, he collapsed beside Denali, both of them panting from their morning escapades. Zayde smiled contentedly as his mate gazed at him with love and adoration in his eyes. This was exactly the way he wanted to start every morning with his mate. He couldn’t imagine a more perfect way to begin their days together.

“Ready to start our day?” Denali asked.

Zayde groaned. “Give me five seconds before you make me get out of bed.”

Denali wiggled his brows. “I can think of a few things we can do in those five minutes.”

“Go away.” Zayde laughed as he pushed at Denali’s chest. “I’ve had more sex in the past week than I’ve had in my entire life. You’re relentless.”

His mate nuzzled him. “I can’t help how much I want you.”

With a content sigh, Zayde brushed his fingers through Denali’s hair. He wanted his mate as much as Denali wanted him, but Zayde needed some recovery time. Denali was out to kill him with his dick.

After the two climbed from bed, they both got ready for the day. As soon as they were finished, they all headed out.

The ground sloped downward to the river, and the air was thick with lush greenery and bird songs. The sun beat down on them as they walked, and Denali laced his fingers in Zayde’s.

Chloe and Dixon ran around, snuffling everything and chasing each other. After a while, they seemed to have reached some kind of truce and were walking side by side.

Finally, they reached the river, and Zayde watched in amazement as Dixon dipped a front paw into the water. Since coming to live with them, the dog had become happier, greeting them every morning with licks and a wagging tail. It seemed Dixon’s personality was finally shining through, because he’d never been this active at the clinic, as if he’d known who he was going home to. Not anymore. Dixon was theirs, and Zayde planned on letting the dog be a freaking dog instead of a pet who was abused.

He smiled as Denali wrapped his arms around him, and Zayde laid his head on his mate’s chest. “I think they’re finally getting along,” he said as he watched Chloe try to pull Dixon back from the water. She kept headbutting his chest, pushing until Dixon relented and took a few steps back.

“You mind if I shift?” Denali asked.

Zayde’s heart skipped a few beats. “You never have to ask.”

His mate shrugged. “You haven’t seen my lion since the day I had to prove to you what I was, and that was only for a brief second.” Denali began to undress. “I’ll know who you are and understand you while I’m in my lion form.”

What had he said? Zayde was too lost in his mate’s body to pay attention.

Then he shifted, and honestly, Zayde took a step back, even knowing that the lion wouldn’t attack him. The animal was huge! His coat was a yellow gold that shimmered in the sunlight, and his mane was reddish-brown.

Zayde reached out a tentative hand and glided his fingers through the mane, amazed at how stiff the fur felt. Then Zayde slid his hand over Denali’s back, excited that he was petting a lion.

Denali turned, looked toward the woods past the creak, and then back at Zayde.

Zayde chuckled. “Go. I’ll wait here with Chloe and Dixon.”

When the lion walked a few steps away, Dixon ran to join him. Chloe sat next to Zayde, as if she wasn’t impressed. She probably had seen Denali shift too many times to care anymore.

Dixon, on the other hand, barked and ran circles around Denali. When Denali took off, Dixon’s little legs tried their best to keep up. Zayde smiled when the lion slowed so Dixon could keep up with him.

“I think Dixon just fell in love with Denali,” he said to Chloe. “Do you think I really have competition like Marissa said?”

Chloe looked up at him then curled onto her back and closed her eyes.

“Yeah, I probably don’t have anything to worry about, but I’m going to keep my eyes on Dixon. He just might worm his way into Denali’s heart.”

Because he sure had wormed his way into Zayde’s. So had Denali. Zayde couldn’t believe how much he loved the guy. He had a mate, a home, and a new life, and he couldn’t help but smile. He was exactly where he belonged.

Zayde turned when he heard something behind him. He gasped and scrambled to his feet when he saw a stranger who was tall, as tall as Panahasi. He had red skin, long black hair, and his irises were filled with fire.
