Eventually, he would relax, and she hoped it was soon. He was driving her crazy, but she loved him for it.

He came back with Kodiak in tow. They were going to put together the crib. She smiled at her husband’s teammate. Up until last week, she’d been heading up the team as the leader in their pursuit of NSH. But with that wrapped up months ago, Rose made the decision to leave fieldwork to focus on being a mom. It was an easy decision, especially when she found out she was having twins.

“I’ll leave you to it,” she murmured as she left the room and headed downstairs. Her back was aching, and she decided to sit outside and enjoy the garden. She settled in the rocking chair with a sigh, thankful for everything she had in her life.

On a whim, she pulled up her photos on her phone and found one of her sister Tansy. The pain of her death still lingered, but it was tempered with the satisfaction that she had gotten justice for her sweet younger sister and her wonderful brother-in-law.

Aaron Trasker. She still couldn’t believe it had been him who had masterminded all those attacks. Bitter from the death of his family in Paris after a gunman had killed his wife, children, and parents in a devastating attack at a mall, he had decided that he would teach the US and the world that no one was ever safe. Untold deaths later, he had been stopped in Alaska after he’d come after Celeste.

A warm sensation wound around her heart. That sweet girl had been so darned brave and with her still secret AI, had saved all three of them by getting the word out as to where they were being held. She and GQ were back on track for their marriage. She couldn’t wait to attend the wedding, even though she was going to be close to giving birth.

She rocked, setting her phone in her lap, enjoying the early signs of spring as the trees budded and the flowers sprouted. The dogwoods and cherry trees were already blooming. She’d love to get to DC to see the tidal basin covered in pink blossoms.

The next thing she knew, Iceman was shaking her shoulder. He and Kodiak were going to meet Kaiya at one of their favorite restaurants. She still couldn’t get used to falling asleep every time she sat down, but growing two humans was sucking the life out of her. She was more than ready to go for food. It seemed that eating was her second favorite pastime.

After they finished dinner with their friends, Rose climbed the stairs and switched on the light in the nursery. Two beautiful white cribs were assembled with a matching changing table. A box in the corner held the rest of the decorations for the room and…two new gliders with ribbons around them.

She turned to Iceman and smiled. “When did you do that?”

“Kodiak had them at his house. He brought them over when he came to help with the crib. While you were sleeping, we put them in here.”

“Oh, Chris. I love everything.”

He wrapped his arms around her. “I love you, Rose.”

She reached up and brushed his cheek with the back of her fingers, leaning her back into his chest. He bent down and nuzzled her neck.

Rose’s vision blurred and she closed her eyes.Hormones. Turning in his arms, she kissed his neck, then grinned up at him. “I love you, too, Chris.”

Holding her gaze, he stared down at her, amusement appearing in his eyes, then he smiled that slow, sensual, intimate smile that made her go weak inside. “You’re nothing but trouble,” he said, his hand rubbing over her swollen stomach, “And it’s about to get even more troublesome.”

Covering his hand, she reached up and kissed him, loving the way he opened his mouth and kissed her back. Her life was full and about to get fuller, and she was ready to experience it all with this man she loved so damn much. “Are you ready for them?”

“Hoo-yah!” He chuckled. “I’m a Navy SEAL, babe. We’re ready for anything.”

She droppedher bag on the hall table and called out, “Boyce?”

There was no answer, and she figured he hadn’t gotten home yet. Her job at the White House was turning out to be much more interesting than she’d anticipated. She was Luna Carmichael there, and she felt empowered using her real name, leaving her shadow, Karasu, behind. She was completely free of her past, dedicated to her future with Preacher. There was just one unresolved issue lingering from her past.

Her mouth tightened thinking about Volk and how difficult it had been to see him in that hospital bed. She’d gone back to Anchorage to accompany him home when he was mobile enough to travel in a wheelchair. He was now on his feet, and he’d called her a month ago to tell her that he’d run into his friend, NCIS Special Agent Griffin Crawford in a bar, and he’d encouraged Volk to apply for NCIS, which he did. He had finished training in Georgia, and he was now working at the NCIS Special Projects office in San Diego. She missed him but was glad he had found something to keep his mind occupied. He’d make an excellent agent. She just wished he would put his other demons to rest like she had, but that didn’t seem to be in the cards for him, at least not anytime soon.

Her former partner deserved to be incandescently happy like she was.

Since her husband wasn’t home yet, she decided to take a long, hot shower and then she would start dinner. But after her shower, she was enticed to lay down for a quick rest.

The next thing she knew, a naked male body was sliding up against her.

She opened her sleepy eyes. “You’re lucky I’d know that gorgeous, muscled body anywhere.”

“Hey, babe,” he said softly, rolling her to her back, settling his hips into the crux of her thighs, the heat of his full erection pressing against her. She arched her back at the exquisite feel of him.

She moved and he went still, then released an unsteady sigh, and slid his hands over her ribs. “You are so beautiful, Luna,” he whispered, his chest expanding as he covered her mouth with a hot, wet kiss. She made a low sound and opened to him, the thrust of his tongue sending hot, weakening need through her.

Moaning against his mouth, Luna was lost. Lost to hunger. Lost to the sensations pumping through her. Lost to the urgency of his questing hands. She wrapped her hand around him, guiding him to her. A violent tremor shuddered through him at her touch, and when he entered her in one deep thrust, she arched her back, choking out his name. He shuddered again, then drove into her again and again and again, finally sending her over the edge of a hard, delicious orgasm. Then he stiffened, an agonizing groan wrenched from him as he climaxed deep inside her.

It was a long while before they made it downstairs for dinner, but then they kissed again, and it was back upstairs.
