He’s seemingly annoyed, and I actually love it. No, I’ve never been with someone who had his dick pierced. But I would if the right guy came along. Besides, messing with Hunter right now is too funny.

“Enough about my weird kinks.” I sigh. “Tell me about hockey. Is the plan still to go pro? Or are you going to medical school and then working for your dad?”

“Fuck no,” he scoffs. “I’m going pro, or I’m going to die trying. Fuck medical school.”

“Geesh, tell me how you really feel, why don’t ya?”

He leans back in his chair. “Not many people get it. The pressure. The hunger to be the best.” He nods his chin down. “You get it, Sutton. Your parents have pushed you to the point of breaking. I’ve seen it firsthand. And I…we’re not all that different.”

I blink a few times, tilting my head to the side. “And be honest…did you ever think you’d be saying those words to me?”

“Fuck no.” He laughs once. “Not in a million years.”

Hunter

I hold the door open for Sutton after we finish our drinks and bagels at the coffee shop. I never knew she even had a sense of humor. I knew she was a sarcastic chick, but it always came off as her being bitchy. But, fuck, the girl had me laughing my ass off for a while there. The icing on the cake was when she did an impression of both of our parents. And she nailed it.

“I’ll give you a ride home to get your stuff for class, and then we can just ride to campus together,” I tell her when we get closer to my truck. Walking to the passenger door, I open it, waiting for her to climb her little legs up inside. “I’m headed that way after.”

“You know, I can walk back to my place,” she says, holding her hand over her eyes to block the sunlight. Her eyes squint as she tries to look at me. “Just because we’re ‘dating’ doesn’t mean I expect you to chauffeur me around.”

Actually, I sort of like giving her rides. I like feeling needed for once in my life. But I’m not going to tell her that. She might get the wrong idea. So, instead, I think of a white lie that might have a little truth in it.

“Well, a big part of this deal is to make a certain someone jealous, right? If we’re going to make it credible, I can’t have my chick walking everywhere.” I wink. “Anyone who knows me would know that’d be bullshit if they saw my girl having to walk. You might think of me as a conceited prick, but when I’m with someone, I’mallin.” I shrug. “Even if it isn’t real.”

She looks down, picking at her fingernails before, finally, she gets into the truck. “Good point.” Her eyes widen as she looks in front of the truck. Then, she gives me a small smirk, holding her hand up, waving me closer. “Speaking of credible…it’s go time.”

I start to turn my head to follow her stare, but her hands land on my shoulders, pulling me closer. She spreads her legs, tugging me between them. She giggles the sort of sound I’ve never heard come from her—ever.

She puts her lips to my ear. “Just play along, Thompson. After all, this was your idea.”

“Paige?” I mutter.

“Yep. And let’s just say…she isn’t alone.”

Feeling a pang of jealousy, quickly replaced by anger, I bury my face into Sutton’s neck. I expect her to push me away. Or at the very least, tense up. But she doesn’t. Instead, it’s like the most natural interaction there ever was. And when my lips run along her flesh, kissing her skin until I reach her chin, I swear her body melts into mine. And then I hear a small moan, and my dick can’t help but harden.

I don’t kiss her on the lips, but I’m tempted to. She smells so sweet, and I wonder what her mouth tastes like.

I wonder what between her thighs tastes like too.

Suddenly, she stiffens before pulling back. “They’re gone,” she says, clearing her throat. “They, uh…they left.”

“Oh,” I murmur. Because for a second there, I forgot they were there. Because for a moment, as much as I hate to admit it, there was only Sutton and me.

Scooching back in the seat, she gives me a small smile before buckling her seat belt. “I think we sold it. Guess we’d better get going.” She speaks softly. “Class and all.”

I close my eyes, willing myself out of whatever trance the sweet smell of her delicate skin against my lips just put me in. Exhaling, I open them back up and plaster on a fake grin. We have conditions. Ones that don’t include my cock being rock hard, like it is right now.

“Good thinking, Little Bird. Let’s roll.”

Sutton

I don’t think my heart has stopped pounding since Hunter’s body was between my legs and he was kissing my neck. It’s all part of it—this fake dating thing. But, dang, it’s hard to draw a line when we’re no longer being watched. Because even when Paige, the guy she was with, and her friends walked off…I wasn’t ready for it to end. In fact, I had to force the words out, letting him know they were gone.

“I’ll drop you off at the door, and then I’ll drive to my class,” Hunter says thoughtfully as he pulls into the parking lot of the building where my classes are located. “When do you get out?”

“Three thirty,” I answer softly.
