“The fucking bouncers!” she screams. “The. Fucking. Bouncers!”

“Oh, yeah, it looked like they were doing a stellar fucking job at it. That asshole could have had his hand between your legs if I hadn’t been sitting where I was.”

I shake, dragging in ragged breaths. “This is what you really want?” I wave my hand. “To be fucking grabbed every night of your life? To be scared?”

“I’m not scared,” she utters.

“You should be,” I say before my eyes float to her lips and I move closer.

“Don’t,” she whispers.

“Don’t what, Little Bird?” I reach up, tilting her chin up with my thumb. “Don’t kiss you?”

“Don’t kiss me,” she breathes out. “Don’t you fucking dare!”

I lean closer, my lips hovering over hers. “Why? Because you might like it? Because you might figure out how much you miss me?” I kiss the corner of her mouth, and she doesn’t move. “Because you might agree to leave with me right now when you remember how much you miss me?”

“No, I won’t.” She shakes her head.

“You’ll remember how you fucked my tongue while you sucked my cock like it was a fucking Popsicle, won’t you? Or maybe you’ll remember how I fucked you from behind, hitting you so deep, yet you squeezed my dick, greedy for more.”

She shivers, staring up at me. “No.”

“You’ll remember swallowing every ounce of me down when I came down your throat. And you fucking loved it. You were soaking wet, Sutton.”

“No,” she whimpers, her knees growing noticeably weak.

Taking her lips with mine, I kiss her, sucking her tongue into my mouth gently. She moans against me, and I’m about to lift her up by her asscheeks, throw her over my shoulder, and take her home, making her come a minimum of four times before the sun comes up.

“Sutton,” a female voice growls, and she pulls away from me.

“Ginger, um…this isn’t what it looks like,” she says to the lady who must be her boss. “I was just…we were—”

“Save it. Come with me. Before you guys make another damn scene atmybusiness,” she hisses at Sutton before leveling me with a harsh glare. “You, get the hell off my property. And don’t come back. I know you’re a puck boy at Brooks, but that doesn’t mean jack shit to me. I’m more of a basketball fan.”

When Sutton turns, I catch her hand. “I’m not leaving without you.”

She sighs, giving me a sad look. “Then, you’ll be waiting a long time.” She looks down. “Just go home, Hunter. You’ve caused enough problems for one day.” She shrugs her shoulders. “Besides, isn’t Paige waiting?”

Before I can ask her what the fuck she means, she bolts. I watch her disappear into the club, trudging behind her boss. I have no intentions of actually leaving. I’ll sit in my truck and make sure she gets home safe.

Sutton

“Shut the door behind you,” Ginger mutters, sitting down at her desk.

Closing the door, I sigh. “Look, I really am sorry. I don’t know what got into—”

“Do you think I didn’t know about that same boy following you into the changing room last week?” She narrows her eyes. “Or that you weren’t actually sick, but that Ryann—one of my best employees—lied for you because she didn’t want you to get in trouble?”

I open my mouth to speak, but before I can, she holds up a finger at me.

“This place might be just a strip joint to you, somewhere you feel degraded and embarrassed, but to me…it’s everything. It’s a place for girls to earn a helluva lot more money than they would serving tables. A place where my workers shouldn’t be embarrassed for just doing their damn job.” She exhales slowly, her nostrils flaring. “And a place where I don’t need drama to follow my dancers around like the plague.”

She reaches in her drawer. Pulling out a check, she scribbles on it before sliding it across her desk. “This is more than what you would have made for your next few shifts. Take it and leave. I’ve worked too hard to build this place to what it is for nights like tonight to happen.”

I could argue. I could promise her that it wouldn’t happen again and that Hunter was no one to me. But the truth is, she just did me a favor. I’m not cut out for this industry. The first few shifts made me feel mysterious and daring. But now, I just want a job where people don’t stare at my body for pleasure.

Offering my hand to her, I wait for her to take it. “I am really sorry for how things went down. I look up to you for building something from the ground up and for giving your dancers a safe place to make money while also keeping their integrity.”
