Or should I use the non-genderedtheirnovel, like Wyatt did until he messed up?

Good thing I finished the book blurb forLemonbecause I’m otherwise pretty useless.

No, what’s driving me up the wall is not the manuscript, with its hot descriptions of sex acts I’ve only fantasized about. If I’m honest about my distracted state, it’s Wyatt himself that’s gotten to me. If I’d known to expect someoneotherthan a matronly lady named Dorothy who writes dirty stories about gang bangs and anal sex, I might have worn something nicer. Had I known I’d be having dinner across from possibly one of the fuckinghottest men I’d ever met, I might have prepped myself for some snappy conversation. Worn something a little nicer.

Maybe even a bra. Mascara. That sort of thing.

But no. Instead of a Dorothy, I met Wyatt the sex god. Bad boy looks with sleeve tattoos, a scuffed leather jacket, and broken-in motorcycle boots.

He even had a scar running through one of his eyebrows, just like Jason Momoa.

And to think he asked me out, to which I answered an idiotic and emphatic no.What the fuck, Amalia?

But really, I don’t need to be dating someone I may end up having a professional relationship with. I mean, people do that all the time, but I’m focused on my career, such as it is, and am not about to do anything that might risk it.

I have enough problems already.

Like trying tokeepsaid career.

But damn if thoughts of that man didn’t keep me up most of the night.

My cell phone rings, snapping me out of my trance, and I can see it’s Daisy calling. I consider not picking up because it’s not a good time to get into a conversation with her, but hell, she never calls, always texts. Could be something important.

“Dais. What’s up?”

Ralph glances my way the moment he realizes I’m on a personal call.

Dude, just eat your jellybeans.

“Amalia, there’s no hot water,” she cries.

Oh my God.

“Daisy, I’m at work. Do you think you can handle this by calling the building manager?”

She’s quiet for a moment. “Um, well, do you think you could call?”

I can see Cameron on the other side of the office making his rounds, terrorizing people. Please don’t come my way. Please.

I lower my voice so I don’t break into shouting. “Dais, I’m at work. And I think my boss is heading over. So you are going to have to handle this yourself. You have the number to call. Take care of it yourself, okay?”

She clicks her tongue. “Fine. I will.”

“Gotta go,” I whisper, and swipe the call closed just as Cameron closes in on me.

“Sound like someone’s got roommate problems,” Ralph booms.

I glare at him so hard he turns right back to his computer.

“Did someone say something about roommates?” Cameron asks.

Ralph opens his mouth to speak, but I cut him off. “It’s all good, Cam.”

He nods. “All right then. Do you have any news for me about our anonymous novel? The one that’s so hot it burns your fingers when you’re turning the pages?”

He fake-licks his fingers and makes a hissing sound like he’s burned them.

Dork.
