I’d imagined a moment like this, where everything would be set back to normal, if anything in my life ever was normal, where the guys would open their hearts and realize none of us are perfect. But I didn’t believe it would ever happen. It just wouldn’t work, not for me and not for them.

And here they are now.

Levi takes both my hands. “Amalia, I’m sorry I doubted you. I’m sorry I blamed you. We’re all sorry. As soon as we learnedwhat Cameron did to sabotage me, well, we got to work making it right.”

Wyatt jumps to his feet. “I bought the fucking company, bitches!” he sings, and I run into his arms.

Oh, how did I ever think I could live for a moment without these guys?

And how did they thinktheycould live withoutme?

“You got rid of that horrible Cameron.” I wriggle out of Wyatt’s arms, doing a little victory dance.

“You guys… I… I Iove… this news.”

Shit. The ‘L’ word almost slipped out. Not that I won’t say it someday. It’s just that it’s too… soon yet. Kinda. Sorta. Maybe.

“Wy, I can’t believe you bought the company,” I say.

He leans back in one of the conference room chairs with his hands behind his head. Practicing to be the boss, I suppose.

I’ll give him shit about that later.

“What can I say? I take care of my friends.” He looks at each of us, one at a time. “Plus, I needed something to do.”

Levi scoffs. “Dude, you don’t know the first thing about publishing.”

“I don’t know about that, Levi,” Henry says, sitting on the conference table, something Cameron would have had a shit fit over. “If you recall, Wyatt was the one who sent in the Ryder Night story. I’d say the man has quite a good eye for literary talent. And now that he owns the publishing house that handles your books, you better start treating him with some respect. He’s signing the checks now.”

Levi drops his head back and roars with laughter, using his hand to make that jerk-off motion guys do when they want to be extra gross.

“That’s right, Levi. From now on, I sign your checks, motherfucker,” Wyatt says, pointing with both hands.

I’ll never tire of how these guys bust on each other.

A new lump builds in my throat. I do my best to chase it away. No more crying today, please. There’s always tomorrow to count my lucky stars.

Henry walks up to me slowly, his surfer hair falling over his forehead, and with a hand on either side of my face, his kisses me, long and hard and deep. When he finishes, he pulls back and I see a tiny bit of gray hair at his temples I’d never noticed before. “Tell us, baby, will you have us back? Can we try again?”

I’m about to jump up and down and scream yes, yes, yes, when my snark-ass alter ego takes over.

“Hmmm,” I say, tapping my cheek. “I’ll take it under consideration if we can revisit those steamy gangbang stories Levi wrote. You know, the one with three guys and one girl.”

Henry tries not to laugh. “That might be tough, sweetie. You spent all that time convincing Levi that’s not the kind of thing romance readers like.”

I look at Levi and Wyatt, who both raise their eyebrows and shrug helplessly, having a great time mocking me.

That’s okay. I’ll give it right back to them. “Well, guys, sometimes—and I really meansometimes—a girl can be wrong. Now, I’m not saying Iwasin this instance, but I think revisiting the topic would be appropriate. You know, perhaps we can act out some of Levi’s scenarios to assess whether they are or are not really plausible.”

Wyatt snorts. “Plausible sex. I like that.”

He comes up and presses into me from behind and, if I’m not mistaken, has the start of one of his enormous erections.

Before I can slink away—after all, we’re in a conference room with glass walls—Henry presses into me from the front.

“Well, if we don’t have an Amalia sandwich,” Levi says.

Holy shit. I might have to leave work early today. Maybe my new boss, Ralph, will be cool about things like that.
