"Your back will look classy and sexy."

Lilly stared at me as I analysed the sexy but elegant dress. It really was beautiful.

"If you don't try it on, I will."

"Fine!" I gave in and smiled when she squealed quietly.

* * *

The fabric feltlike pure silk against my skin, and although the bottom of the gown looked thick it was actually thin and lightweight. The top of the dress was flush against my skin, showing my figure down to the waistline where the fabric flowed outwards. Despite having no bra on and knowing there was a slit at the front of the dress under the fabric, I felt incredibly sexy. Lilly was waiting outside in the dressing room and I waited to show her as the lady helping me laced up the back of the dress.

"You're all tied up," she said and I thanked her. "You ready to show her? There's a full-length mirror out there."

I had already seen it, it was bloody huge! A full-length mirror in a painted gold frame was standing up against the wall. Before looking into it, I had to show Lilly and I waited in anticipation as the lady opened the curtain.

"Oh my god, Eves."

Lilly stood up and came closer as I picked the fabric up and swished it a little bit.

"This dress was bloody made for you!"

I scoffed. "I wouldn't go that far, Lil'."

"I'm serious!"

Smiling, I eyed myself in the mirror, admiring the deep navy colour as it shimmered in the lighting.

"Are you getting this one?" Lilly asked me, looking at me in the mirror. I stared at myself longer, the feeling of regret filling my body.

I couldn't...

As much as I loved this dress, I wasn't going to pay over one-hundred pounds for a dress. It wasn't that I didn't have the money, because I had the chance during my last job to save money. That didn't matter. I was having a baby. Soon I'd need to start thinking about buying my baby things. I wasn't going to spend that amount of money on a dress when the same amount of money I was sure could buy lots of baby clothes.

"I'll think about it," I lied.

I hated lying to Lilly, and apart from the incident at Delta, I never had lied to her. I knew Lilly would encourage me to get it, I knew she'd tell me that I deserved it. I didn't want her to. I was going to pick a less expensive dress and be just as happy in it. At least, that was the plan.

"That means you're not getting it..." she said, sitting back down in the seat situated in the dressing room.

"I know you, Eves," she said before I could answer her.

Rolling my eyes, I picked myself up and made my way back to the changing room to get undressed.

"Does Kit know you're buying a dress? That you don't already own one?" Lilly spoke through the curtain.

"Kit has to know exactly where I am at all times these days, Lil'. So yes, he knows..."

"Surprised they don't keep a tally on how many times you fart as well..." she answered sarcastically.

As much as I wanted to smile, Lilly was just reminding me how chained up my life was already. Dress shopping with her was meant to make me feel somewhat normal despite there being two bodyguards/babysitters outside the changing room pretending to be shoppers.

"Don't remind me, Lil'."

"Sorry."

I could tell by the tone of her voice that she felt bad and I waited a few seconds after the dress came off over my head. I placed it on the coat hanger and ran my fingers over the fabric once more.

"Kit wanted me to take his credit card to pay for a dress."
